What training does the staff have to support my child?

We recognise that staff members at our schools need specific knowledge to effectively support pupils with Special Educational Needs. We are committed to giving our staff members the opportunity to access such training, and facilitate an environment where expertise and knowledge is shared.

·        The SENDCo provides specific SEND training for staff and governors to update their knowledge.

·        We hold regular in‑house training for staff members relevant to inclusive practice.

·        Staff have received training on the graduated response, Valuing SEND (VSEND), SEND, metacognitive strategies, use of assistive technology, dyslexia, creating inclusive and visual classrooms, Autism and Autism in girls, strategies to support language and communication, using Numicon, MAST approach to maths and Clicker software.

·        If a child with a specific need is to be educated at our school, appropriate training will be given.

The SENDCo has completed the National SENDCo Award related to Special Educational Needs.
