PSHE curriculum
Our PSHE curriculum is integral to our curriculum and lays the foundations for our medium-term planning. Our curriculum is underpinned by a core emphasis on the effective development of personal, social, health and emotional skills. We believe explicit teaching of these skills will support our children to be confident in their learning approaches, applied strategies and communication with others. This will develop mutual respect and acceptance of others.
We follow the Pol-Ed Units of work across a 2-year cycle and link these with our Values for each term. Resources are also supplemented from the Cambridgeshire PSHE scheme of learning, in particular for Relationships and Sex Education (RSE).
Please see the links below to access the overviews for the PSHE Units that are covered within each phase: Y1/2, Y3/4, Y5/6. Due to our mixed age classes, children will explore all units for their phase within the 2 -year cycle. This can be seen in our curriculum long term plan for PSHE.
We often take the lead from children’s lived experiences, considering related themes including the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes in an integrated way.
