Homework

Many parents ask how they can support their child and we strongly encourage you to do this. In any week there are 168 hrs, of which 31 hrs are spent at school! If their learning only happens in school we are missing a huge potential.  All the homework that we set supports the learning that has happened in class over the week and enables children to make links and embed what they have learnt.

Homework

Foundation

Children will have daily homework which will reinforce and support their phonics in school.  This will include sound flash cards, key words and blending words.

Learning Journeys for Foundation children are online so parents and carers can access their child's learning whenver they wish.

Year 1

Homework will be collected and marked every Friday and new homework will be set on the same day. Children will have a weekly spelling test linked to their Phonics learning for that week, along with a phonics sheet to read through at home. They will be given a piece of Writing homework to complete as well. Each week, there will be a topic-based homework task connected to what they have been learning in class. Please also make sure to practise for their weekly number challenge that focuses on developing fluency with number bonds and times tables. Additional tasks may be set throughout the year, so please check homework books regularly.

Please try to read with your child as often as possible. They will also bring home their phonics book to read.

Year 2
