Copdock Weekly Update 27/02/2026

Information to Share

PGL Payments - for those that are paying for PGL in instalments, please be reminded that the next installment is due.

World Book Day Thursday 5th March 2026 - This year, to celebrate World Book Day, we are asking children to turn a wooden spoon into their favourite Roald Dahl or Julia Donaldson character.  See examples below:
Friday 4th March 2022 | Lydgate Junior School
Wooden spoons can be bought really cheaply from supermarkets and there are lots of ideas on the internet.  All decorated spoons need to be brought into school by Wednesday 4th March. Every child who takes part will receive a small prize and there will be a winner from each class. Therefore, we will not be dressing up this year. World Book day vouchers will be sent home today.

World Book Day Menu Change Thursday 5th March - please see attached poster with details of the menu options for this day. Please note sandwiches and jacket potatoes will still be available to order.

PTA Wonka Bar Sale - please see attached poster for information on the Wonka Bar Sale after school on Friday 6th March.

Easter Bonnets - We will be holding our annual Easter parade on the last day of term, 27th March, 2.45pm instead of family assembly. We can't wait to see the children's beautiful 'bonnets', all shapes and sizes welcome!

Questionnaire - thank you to families who have joined our school community more recently for completing our questionnaire about induction processes. Your responses are appreciated and will be discussed at the Governor Personnel Committee in the next few weeks.

KS2 London visits - As you are aware your KS2 child will be visiting London next month.  The risk assessment has been finalised for this visit and a short video explaining the day is now available on your child's google classroom account.  The children should know how to sign in and access this but any queries please let us know.

Red Nose Day - Athlete (ActivKids) - We are excited to share that we have an athlete visiting both schools on the morning of Thursday 19th March. They will lead an assembly on staying healthy and active and explain what it takes to be successful in sport alongside their personal experiences. The children will then complete a sponsored circuit activity led by the athlete. This will tie in with the Red Nose Day fund raising and we will be sending out sponsor forms and more information for parents early next week. Completed sponsor forms and money raised should be brought in by 13th March. Thank you for your support!

We hope you have all enjoyed seeing photos and updates about our recent activities in school.

Please check the attachments for some information and our Local events and clubs page on the website for things going on in the community - we are always adding new information from 3rd parties for you to consider - there may be holiday clubs or sporting opportunities, or events taking place in local villages.  We also include courses available to parents on a variety of topics.

REMINDERS!!!!

Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly.

Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.  Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn.

Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled.  Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening.

Muddy Shoes - If your child has a spare change of shoes they can change into for playtimes this would help to keep our classrooms clean.  Alternatively, plimsols for indoors and outdoor shoes for play. Thank you as always for your support.

words.PNG

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
