Copdock Weekly Update 23/05/2025

Information to Share

Well Done - a big thank you from the office to parents - we now have 100% of our families using the Arbor app - which means we can ensure we have accurate, up to date information for our pupils and carers.  Thank you.

Walk to School Week - thank you to all the children who have walked at least part of the journey to school this week.  It was done as part of the active travel plan as part of our sustainability project and to prevent cars and fumes around school.

MOKI Challenge - whilst writing this we are very close to the top of the leaderboard - sitting in 2nd place - with a football tournament to take place this afternoon - well done to everyone for contributing.

Netball - we've had an U9 festival and an U11 tournament this week - the children were buzzing and have improved no end.  Congratulations to everyone who joined in.

Cricket - KS2 children will continue with cricket and padel at the cricket club on Tuesday afternoons after half term.  Just a reminder that Woodpeckers should be collected at 3pm from the club to enable parents time to get back to school for siblings at 3:15pm, if the children are attending either of the after school clubs, they will be walked back to school.

Shared Learning/Coffee & Chat - as usual, there will be a coffee and chat on the first Friday after half term, followed by shared learning.  As at previous events, parents are welcome to come into school from 2:45pm to share their child's learning in class.  If you have more than one child in school, please come in from 2:30pm.  Please note we are unable to accommodate younger siblings at the shared learning - if this means you are unable to attend please let us know so that we can make another time available for you to share your child's learning.  The coffee and chat begins at 2:15pm with the topic of developing Federation links and outdoor learning.

Festival of Wheels - our PTA has managed to secure a special discount code for this event.  The code is copdock.  Please see attached posters.  The organisers have also donated 2 family of 4 camping tickets as prizes for the Donuts with Dad event coming up in June.

Raffle Tickets - children have today brought home some raffle tickets from the PTA for the summer fayre.  Please return monies and stubs to the office or a PTA member.  Any unsold tickets can also be returned.  Should you require more books please let us know.  Thank you in advance for your support towards this event - the PTA have worked really hard to secure some fabulous prizes - good luck.

Half Term - don't forget Monday 2nd June is a PD day and therefore children are not in school.  We will see everyone on Tuesday 3rd June for the final stretch into the summer.  We have lots planned for the remainder of the school year - dates were shared in the newsletter on 4th April, but can also be found on the website calendar - please do keep checking the weekly news to keep up to date with events and instructions.

Trips - there are lots of exciting things in the diary for the next half term.  Please ensure all forms and payments are received by the deadlines set in order to help us make them run as smoothly as possible.

Attendance - you will have received a notification about your child's attendance.  This will be sent half termly for your information.

Events & Activities - don't forget to keep an eye on the Local Clubs & Events section of the website - we are always adding new information from 3rd parties for you to consider - there may be holiday clubs or sporting opportunities, or events taking place in local villages.  We also include courses available to parents on a variety of topics.

REMINDERS!!!!

Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly.
Those Swimming need their kits on Mondays.
Foxes need to remember clarinets for their lessons on Tuesdays.
Reception children need to wear Forest Schools clothing on Fridays and bring welly boots.
Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.  Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn.
Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled.  Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
