Copdock Weekly Update 23/01/2026

Information to Share

Year 4-6 Federation Cross Country event - Please complete the survey sent out to indicate if your child would like to take part and transport your child to and from the event.

Online Safety - All classes will be marking safer internet day on 10th February to continue their learning in online safety. This year's focus is
Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI’. You may want to check out this free webinar to find out more.
Recent concerns have also been raised about access through 'virtual private networks' (VPNs) - apps/programs that people can use to make themselves more private online. With the age restrictions introduced by the Online Safety Act 2023, the number of people using a VPN has increased dramatically. Read this factsheet to find out what a VPN is, how to spot if your child is using one, and what you can be doing at home to support your child.
A new guide and activity pack has been released by the Children's Commisioner. Find it here.

Traffic Issues - Please see attached posters. Please also be reminded that there is due to be traffic management scheme (traffic lights) in place around The Street and Back Lane whilst resurfacing works are being carried out at the bus stop island, The Street, from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th January. This may bring about slight delays at drop-off / pick-up times at the School so please allow extra time for this.

Valentines Disco Raffle Tickets - the PTA will be holding a Valentines Day Disco afterschool on Friday 13th February (details on ticket sales to follow) This will be a non uniform day in exchange for a Pink or Red donation for a raffle to be held at the Disco. Raffle tickets will be on sale each day after school next week, sold by KS2 children. Tickets cost 50p each so please bring exact cash with you to purchase tickets as all money raised benefits the children.

Foundation Parent Consultations - Miss Zych will be holding parent consultations on Friday 6th and Friday 13th February from 2:30-3:30pm. This is an opportunity to meet with Miss Zych and discuss your childs progress. Appointments will be 10 minutes long and can be booked via the Spider App. You will be notified next week when they are available to book.

Exciting Upcoming Events:

Tractor visit - 9th February - A local farmer will be bringing his tractor to Copdock so the children can find out more about food and farming. As KS1 children from both schools will be at Copdock on this day, they will have the opportunity to sit in the tractor and find out all about how it is used.

World Religion Day - 11th February - children across the federation will be engaging in a World Religion Day, exploring artefacts, virtual tours and belief systems. Copdock KS1 children will spend the day at Bentley with Wolves class and as we have 36 children we are asking parents to drop off at Bentley School for 9am on this day as well as collect if possible - those attending breakfast club or after school club will be transported.
Adders and Hedgehogs will spend the day at Copdock and will be transported there and back in the school minibuses.

Livestock project - 16th March - We are so excited to be welcoming a ewe and her lambs to Copdock for this week. Miss Zych, Kitten's teacher, will be trained in how to handle and look after the lambs carefully, enabling the children to experience first hand how to take care of the sheep during their stay. Children from all classes across both schools will be visiting the sheep during the week. More info to follow!!

Please check the attachments for some information and our Local events and clubs page on the website for things going on in the community - we are always adding new information from 3rd parties for you to consider - there may be holiday clubs or sporting opportunities, or events taking place in local villages.  We also include courses available to parents on a variety of topics.

REMINDERS!!!!

Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly.

Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.  Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn.

Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled.  Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening.

Muddy Shoes - If your child has a spare change of shoes they can change into for playtimes this would help to keep our classrooms clean.  Alternatively, plimsols for indoors and outdoor shoes for play. Thank you as always for your support.

words.PNG

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
