Victorian Day and 150 years celebration

As mentioned in last weeks newsletter, Friday 26th September will be our Victorian Day celebration, where we will travel back in time to explore school life in Victorian times. Children need to come dressed in simple costume, maybe even a chimney sweep or maid. Ideas here. Children will be lined on the playground in the morning to complete their hygiene check so make sure they wash their hands and nails thoroughly before coming to school!
We have an exciting week planned with lots of activities for the children to do in preparation, then on the day we will have donkey rides, sandcastles competitions, make peg dollies, perform Maypole dancing and more. To support the day we are asking for a contribution of £2 per child, payable via spider. Online payments will close on Thursday 25th at 3:30pm. Thank you

Special tea towels are also available to purchase to celebrate our wonderful school, with each child's drawing of their face printed for all to see. (see attached) Why not buy as a Christmas gift for a family member... £4 each! Tea towel order form on Spider.

If anyone has any sandcastle buckets we could borrow for the day, that would be great!

Macmillan Fundraiser and cake competition - 26th September 2pm
During the same afternoon, we will also be holding our annual Macmillan fundraiser with a special Victorian theme too. We are looking to entice keen bakers to enter our Victoria Sponge cake competition. Get your culinary skills ready as a beautiful bouquet will be presented to the lucky winner. This has been kindly donated by Christine's Florest, thank you!
Donations of other cakes will also be welcome as all cakes will be used to support our Macmillan event. Please send cakes in by 10am on 26th September.
Entry charge is £2.50 for adults and 50p for additional toddlers, pre-school children, giving you access to the fun and games above as well as refreshments. Payment is via spider please where possible, but cash donations will be welcome on the day from additional visitors, all in support of Macmillan.

Newspapers- if anyone has any old newspapers they no longer need we would be grateful for them in school.

Jam Jars- Woodpeckers are planning on making some Chutney for the 150 years Celebrations event. If anyone has any clean empty jam jars they would be able to donate for this we would be very grateful. Please bring them into school asap.

Foundation Year Group- Stay & Play-  every Tuesday at 2.40pm- Please ensure you arrive on time to make the most of this session, although we do appreciate parents/carers can be held up enroute.  If you are unable to attend for the majority of the session please attend another week.

Children medical and allergy conditions- please ensure you have accessed Arbor and updated your child's medical details if necessary.

REMINDERS!!!!

Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly.
Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.  Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn.
Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled.  Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
