Copdock Weekly Update 16/05/2025

Information to Share

Walk to School Week - next week is Walk to School Week it's our annual five-day walking challenge and takes place 19-23 May 2025.  This year’s challenge will see pupils take on The Great Space Walk, encouraging them to travel actively to school every day of the week.  Meeting various colourful intergalactic friends along the way, pupils will learn about the important reasons to walk or wheel and its benefits for individuals, communities and the planet!  Joining our Walking Bus contributes to Walk to School Week - please do your best to join in.

MOKI Challenge - we also have a Moki band challenge running for the week, where we are aiming to be the most active school in the country.  Every step the children take will add to a whole school total.  The children will be able to wear their watches home for the week to help add to our total steps.  Please encourage everyone to wear their watch to see just how many steps we can reach.

Uniform Order - please see attached order form, the deadline is Wednesday 21st May.  This will be the last order of this academic year, the next order will be October 2025.  Please remember we need the attached order form as well as the payment prior to the deadline to be able to place the order.

Consents & Permissions - a huge thank you and well done, we now have 98% of parent usage on Arbor!  We do still need some permissions from you please!  It would be really helpful if you could revisit the consents section to ensure you have ticked everything relevant.  Without permission we are limited to the use of photographs, and children cannot borrow from our fantastic new library.  If you are unsure or have any questions about the consents please do let the office know.

Sporting Festivals - if your child is participating in either the netball or football events next week, please ensure you have read the information on the emails sent confirming details.  Please contact the office if you have any questions.  For those attending the football, please ensure you have responded to the survey on the website.

Sunshine - please ensure your child comes to school with a named hat - our field is lucky enough to be in the sunshine at lunchtime, but this means the children need to be wearing hats.  Although it's lovely and warm outside, please ensure they also have a jumper or cardigan with them - they can cool down in the classroom, especially after a nice warm break outside.  Please apply suncream at home if desired.

Dinner Money - with half term rapidly approaching, please ensure you are up to date with paying for KS2 dinners.

Sports Day - as per the newsletter with the dates for this term and the website calendar, please note this year's sports day will be held in the morning followed by a picnic.

Siblings on Site - just a polite reminder that younger siblings on site at the end of the day need to be adhering to the school rules for their own safety.  Please do not allow them to play or climb on sports equipment, or hand rails alongside the ramp or steps.  Scooters and bikes should not be ridden on site by anybody.

After School Clubs - after half term our Tuesday ITFC club will continue to be football, it will be open to children in years 1-4, there will be no cost.  If your child would like to attend please email into the office.  Lego club will continue to run - please see the attached letter for details on how to book.

REMINDERS!!!!

Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly.
Those Swimming need their kits on Mondays.
Foxes need to remember clarinets for their lessons on Tuesdays.
Reception children need to wear Forest Schools clothing on Fridays and bring welly boots.
Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.  Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
