Copdock Weekly Update 12/09/2025

Information to Share

Staff changes-from January 2026.
Sadly, Mrs Atkins has been facing some health challenges during the past year and has therefore made the difficult decision to step back from full time teaching to prioritise her self-care. Mrs Atkins will be with us until the end of term in December so we will be making the most of her expertise until then. As we are advertising for a new teacher, we wanted to notify you. I am sure you will share your thanks and best wishes with Mrs Atkins in due course.

Arbor - As many of you are aware, we are using Arbor for our information system in school.  Parents have access to this to update your information.  Please could you take some time to check contact information, phone numbers, emails etc.  Please ensure all the consent forms are completed, and if your child has a medical need please update this on the medical section.  It is really important that we have all relevant information on the system.  If you have already completed an inhaler usage form please could you pop into the office at some point to check and resign your child's plan. If your child requires an inhaler in school please ensure it is brought into school.  Thank you for your support.

Victorian Day and 150 years celebration
As mentioned in our welcome back letter, Friday 26th September will be our Victorian Day celebration, where we will travel back in time to explore school life in Victorian times. Children need to come dressed in simple costume, maybe even a chimney sweep or maid. Ideas here. Children will be lined on the playground in the morning to complete their hygiene check so make sure they wash their hands and nails thoroughly before coming to school!
We have an exciting week planned with lots of activities for the children to do in preparation, then on the day we will have donkey rides, sandcastles competitions, make peg dollies, perform Maypole dancing and more. To support the day we are asking for a contribution of £2 per child, payable via spider next week.

Special tea towels are also available to purchase to celebrate our wonderful school, with each child's drawing of their face printed for all to see. (see attached) Why not buy as a Christmas gift for a family member... £4 each! See next week's letter for more information about how to order.

If anyone has any sandcastle buckets we could borrow for the day, that would be great!

Please see attached for more details. Families are invited to join the fun from 2pm.

Macmillan Fundraiser and cake competition - 26th September 2pm
During the same afternoon, we will also be holding our annual Macmillan fundraiser with a special Victorian theme too. We are looking to entice keen bakers to enter our Victoria Sponge cake competition. Get your culinary skills ready as a beautiful bouquet will be presented to the lucky winner. This has been kindly donated by Christine's Florest, thank you!
Donations of other cakes will also be welcome as all cakes will be used to support our Macmillan event. Please send cakes in by 10am on 26th September.
Entry charge is £2.50 for adults and 50p for children, giving you access to the fun and games above as well as refreshments. Payment is via spider please where possible, but cash donations will be welcome on the day from additional visitors, all in support of Macmillan.

Jam Jars- Woodpeckers are planning on making some Chutney for the 150 years Celebrations event. If anyone has any clean empty jam jars they would be able to donate for this we would be very grateful. Please bring them into school asap.

Student Fundraiser- On 21st September, Darcie will be taking part in Only the Brave – a tough 3-mile run through mud and obstacles – to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Darcie signed up some time ago, but as many of you know, she broke her leg and for a while we weren’t sure if she would be able to take part. Despite still recovering, she is absolutely determined to honour her commitment and raise funds for such a worthwhile cause. She would be so grateful if any of her fellow pupils could spare a few pounds to sponsor her and support both Darcie and the incredible work of the Air Ambulance.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
