Copdock Weekly Update 10/10/25

Information to Share

Attendance - our school's attendance is 98.2% which is above the National and Local average.  Despite the recent coughs and colds children have been attending and on time.  Consistent attendance plays a vital role in academic success.  Thank you for your support in ensuring your child is present and on time every day.

Art Tokens - tokens will be printed in the Ipswich star and East Anglian Daily Times from 29th September and running until the 6th December.  Simply cut out the tokens and drop them into the office for the school to have a chance of winning some art supplies.

Christmas Cake Club - it’s nearly time again for our KS2 Christmas cake club for Year 3 -Year 6.  The children learn how to make a Christmas cake, marzipan and icing as well as decorate.

The club will run on the following dates/times:
Thursday 6th November 3.15-4.15pm
Thursday 13th November 3.15-4pm
Thursday 20th November 3.15-4.15pm
Thursday 27th November 3.15-4.15pm
Thursday 4th December 3.15-4.15pm

The cost will be £23. We also need parent help to support the children with the making, marzipanning and icing as well as washing/tidying.  Unfortunately, if we do not have enough children taking part or parent help, we will not be able to run the club.  Please email the office to reserve a place for your child which will be on a ‘first come’ basis.

Amen Shoebox Appeal - we will be supporting the shoebox appeal alongside the church once again this year, linking this to our value of generosity with the children.  Leaflets are available in school if you wish to complete your own box.  However, we also welcome any small gifts from our families so the children can make up boxes with the donations received.  More information about suitable gifts can be found on the Attached leafletThe deadline for gifts is half term please, allowing time for boxes to be packed and prepared for delivery.  Thank you in advance for your support.

First Class Photos - there will be a special supplement in the EADT/Evening Star on Tuesday 14th October containing a class picture of our Reception children.

Medicines in school - as we approach the cold & flu time of year, please check the Medical and First Aid Policy for details of administering medication in school.  We encourage children to come in with mild colds if they are feeling well enough, and often a dose of paracetamol before the school day will help them achieve this.  As per the policy, if they need a further dose during the school day parents are welcome to come in to administer medication at lunchtime.  If you are unable to do this, the office can administer paracetamol sent in to school along with a completed authorisation form.  Please ensure the medication is labelled and the expiry date checked.

Please check the attachments for some information and our Local events and clubs page on the website for things going on in the community.- we are always adding new information from 3rd parties for you to consider - there may be holiday clubs or sporting opportunities, or events taking place in local villages.  We also include courses available to parents on a variety of topics.

REMINDERS!!!!

Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly.

Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.  Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn.

Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled.  Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening.

words.PNG

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
