Copdock Weekly Update 06/06/2025

Information to Share

Welcome Back - as we race towards the end of the school year, please ensure children are sent to school with a water bottle, hat and jumper/cardigan - please ensure ALL of these items are labelled.  We already have a pile of jumpers on the lunch box trolley that have been left lying around at the end of break times and need to be reacquainted with their owners.

Class Photos - we have our class photos next Tuesday.  Please ensure children come to school in smart uniform INCLUDING a jumper or cardigan.  PE kits will need to be brought into school to change into for our PE sessions that day.

Football Events - those children taking part in the football events will have been notified of what is required.  Please ensure you have checked the email and send packed lunches and plenty of water where appropriate.  Sports kits will be provided.

Woodpeckers Trip - please ensure all children in Woodpeckers arrive on time on Wednesday ready for their trip.  Children must bring a packed lunch and wear uniform with comfortable shoes.  Please check the weather forecast to ensure everyone is appropriately prepared.

Sports Day - you will have received a letter this week via email detailing the plans for sports day this year.  Please ensure you have carefully read the information.  The sharing assembly will go ahead as usual that day.  Please see attached the lunch offering from our catering company for you to order a grab and go cold lunch from school for your child for the picnic.  Please ensure you have completed the form on the website to confirm your picnic choice by Friday 13th June - you MUST reply even if you are bringing a packed lunch from home.  You will not be able to order food on the day.  Please see attached poster for the menu available to order.  We will be holding a practice sports day in school next Thursday and would ask that children come in uniform but wear trainers please.

PTA Events - on Friday 13th the PTA are hosting an event marking Fathers Day.  As this is taking place in the afternoon in the hall, the sharing assembly will be held in the morning at 9am.  Those sharing have already been notified.  Please see attached posters from the PTA for the next few events with some details below:

Doughnuts with Dad - today is the cut off for booking your place, message the PTA by 5pm TODAY! There is an amazing raffle so bring your change, if you are unable to attend but want some raffle tickets please speak to a PTA member.

Summer Fete - we hope you can join us for this year's fete. We are looking for volunteers to help on stalls, if you're able to help please speak to a PTA member. If you need any more raffle ticket books please speak to a PTA member.

End of Year BBQ - please join us for end of year fun at The Brook. All family and friends are invited.

Swimming - there will not be any swimming lessons for children this half term.

Attendance - the school have had our termly meeting with our Education Welfare officer this week and our attendance figure is 96.4% which is above the national average.  Obviously illnesses occur and can't be helped but well done to everyone.  Our late figures are minimal too.

Photo Consents - if you have yet to give or decline consent for photos of your child via the Arbor app, please do so as a matter of urgency.  This term is packed with lots of exciting events which means that photos are taken widely.  We need to be able to ensure your wishes are adhered to, but this is difficult when not everybody has responded to all of the options.

Permissions - there are also a handful of parents who need to consent or decline the home school agreement and library agreement via Arbor.  We apologise that not all permissions transferred over from the previous system and appreciate your time in completing them via the new app - we hope you are finding this to be a convenient and fast method of updating school with any changes.  Please note that the new Home Library Agreement needs to be consented to in order for children to log books out of the library.

REMINDERS!!!!

Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly.
Foxes need to remember clarinets for their lessons on Tuesdays.
Reception children need to wear Forest Schools clothing on Fridays and bring welly boots.
Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.  Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn.
Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled.  Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening.

words.PNG

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
