Copdock Weekly Update 04/09/2026

Information to Share

We have had a wonderful start to the new term. As always the children have been fantastic!
There have been many successful moments to celebrate already... some of them as a class, some of them on an individual basis.
Thank you for supporting your child to be confident individuals, successful learners and responsible citizens.

The return to school is always a challenge for parents too, as there are so many things to remember. We thought it might help to share a couple of helpful reminders...
  • Snack for playtime should be fruit or vegetables please (no wrappers)
  • Drinking is being monitored carefully to ensure hydration. A clear water bottle helps with this. No juice please, except at lunchtime.
Medication - please ensure you send in all your child's medication needed for this term.

Information required - please can we ask that you check Arbor and check that all details for your child are correct - please ensure we have 2 up to date contact numbers and email addresses and that all your child's medical information is correct.  Please also check consents and that you are happy with the consent / decline status.

School Council elections-These will be held on Thursday 10th September. If your child is interested in being a School Council representative can they please have a speech prepared.

Wellies - KS1 - there were a number of wellies left in school over the summer holidays, please can we ask you to collect your childs wellies after school today and take them home to check they still fit. They can then be returned to school next week ready for forest schools. Please ensure any wellies brought into school are named.

Sharing Assembly - family sharing assemblies will start next week, please see the attached schedule for when your child will be sharing.

After School Football Club Monday - this starts on Monday and is open to children in years 4, 5 and 6. Please complete the survey on Spider if your child would like to attend. The survery will open this afternoon and places will be confirmed by email by 10am Monday morning.

Water Bottles - Thank you to all parents who have already supported us by providing their child with a clear plastic water bottle of no more than 500ml. We really appreciate your cooperation.
As part of current  guidance, we are now supporting early years children with supervised toothbrushing in school. To help promote good oral health, we kindly ask that only water is sent in children's drinking bottles. Children are, of course, welcome to have juice or squash in their lunchboxes if you wish.  National guidance recommends that water should be the only drink available to children throughout the school day. We also want to encourage healthy hydration habits and ensure children are drinking enough water. Having a clear bottle allows staff to easily monitor water intake and support children in staying well hydrated. Please ensure that by Monday, your child brings a clear, see-through water bottle (rather than a metal bottle) to school. We have seen lots of lovely patterned and decorated bottles, and these are absolutely fine as long as they are still transparent enough for us to monitor water levels. This helps us support children in staying well hydrated throughout the day. If a drinking bottle contains squash or another drink, we will need to empty it and refill it with water.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support in helping us promote healthy habits for all children.

Foundation Stay & Play - parents/guardians of children in Foundation are invited to join us in class on Tuesdays from 2:40pm to explore their new classroom and what they have been playing with/learning in school.

Foundation Parents Coffee and Chat - please join us next Friday, 11th September, at 2:45pm to meet with Miss Zych. This is a great opportunity to hear how the children have been settling in, and ask any questions that my have arisen after their first week in school.

Swimming- parents will have received an email if their child is swimming on Monday 7th September.

Please check the attachments for information and also our Local events and clubs page on the website for things going on in the community - we are always adding new information from 3rd parties for you to consider - there may be holiday clubs or sporting opportunities, or events taking place in local villages.  We also include courses available to parents on a variety of topics.

REMINDERS!!!!

Please keep up to date with payments - whether it's dinner money or PGL.  Thank you.

Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly.

Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.  Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn.

Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled.  Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
