Copdock Weekly Update 04/04/2025

Information to Share

Foxes Cake Sale - don't forget to bring your pennies up to the playground today to get your cake from the cake sale.  Thank you to Foxes families for donating the delicious treats.

Books - also at the end of the day the trolley will be on the playground containing books no longer required at school.  We have recently replenished the library and therefore have many books to re-home.  Several boxes have been taken to local charity shops but we need your help.  If you are unable to offer a new home to the books, we ask if you would mind taking a handful and distributing them to charity shops in the local area?

Walking Bus - when we return after Easter we have a new initiative for you to get behind following on from our Walk or Wheel to school.  More details will follow after the Easter break.

New Menus - please see attached the new menus which start after the Easter break, please share these with your child so they know what the options are. We start back on a week 1.  Please note the deadline for the design and colouring competition launched a couple of weeks ago by Lunchtime Co, has been extended until after the Easter holidays.

St George's Day Menu - there will be a change to the menu on Wednesday 23rd April to mark St George's day - see menu attached. Sandwiches and Jacket potatoes will still be available.

Attendance - you will have received a notification about your child's attendance. This will be sent termly for your information.

Arbor MIS System - we have now fully migrated over to our new information management system, Arbor.  We are launching the parent portal as soon as possible.  Please wait until you receive the separate email detailing how to set your password.  Feel free to download the app and log into Arbor.  You will be able to see and update your details and those of your child.  If you have any issues in accessing the portal please do let us know.  Please rest assured, for the time being, communications from school will continue to be made via email or the website.  Arbor at this point in time is simply our method of holding your data, and your ability to keep this up to date.  Please see attached for any further guidance.

After School Clubs - Lego Club will continue on Tuesdays, beginning on 29th April for 4 weeks up to half term.  Please see the attached letter for details of how to book your child on.  Our ITFC club will start on 22nd April from 3:15 to 4:15pm until 20th May.  The focus will be on Football and aimed at those taking part in the upcoming events.  If your child is interested in participating please let us know.  Spaces will be open to year 2 initially with further spaces offered to Woodpeckers.  The spaces will be confirmed on the Tuesday morning when we return.  Regardless of what year from 2-4 your child is in, please let us know by email if you'd like a space.

PTA Easter Gifts - at the end of the day the PTA will be giving the children an Easter gift.  We are very thankful to the PTA for all their efforts throughout the year, and to parents for supporting the events.  If any parents would like to support the PTA please contact them directly.

Cricket - when we come back after Easter, KS2 children will be taking part in cricket sessions at the Copdock Cricket Club on Tuesdays as part of their PE.  As Woodpeckers will be finishing the day there, please can parents collect Woodpeckers children from the Cricket Club at 3pm on Tuesdays - this should give parents time to get back to school for any siblings.  Foxes will be at school ready to finish at 3:15pm as usual.

Ice Cream Fridays - after Easter, the PTA will again be holding ice cream Fridays after school - don't forget to bring your pennies on Fridays at pickup time.

Foxes trip to Longshed in Woodbridge - Adders and Foxes have a visit to Follow the Ship Anglo Saxon experience in Woodbridge on Wednesday 30th April.  This is for the morning only but children will need a packed lunch to eat before coming back to school.  Uniform and trainers to be worn.  Further details to be sent to parents after Easter.

Yr 5 Bikeability - 6th & 7th May - please ensure forms sent home this week are returned by Friday 2nd May to enable your child to participate.

Federation Food Policy - following our curriculum focus on a balanced diet we are pleased to now have a whole school food policy.  Thank you to all of the parents who contributed to this during the consultation process and also to those who attended the coffee and chat to understand more about it.  When the children return to school after Easter, they are welcome to bring a fruit snack from home and this should be kept separately from their lunchbox which will make it easier for access at playtime.  Please do not send any wrapped snack products.  Alternatively, children can have free fruit in school or purchase a rice/corn cake from the snack shop for 10p.

Please do take the time to read the policy (which is on our website) and the recommendations for balanced and nutritious packed lunches.  Here are a few links that you may find helpful for packed lunch ideas –

Those Swimming need their kits on Mondays.
Foxes need to remember clarinets for their lessons on Tuesdays.
Reception children need to wear Forest Schools clothing on Fridays and bring welly boots.
Earrings must be removed for PE lessons.  Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
