Copdock Weekly Update 02/10/2026
|
Information to Share Parking around school - please ensure when you are bringing your children to school and collecting at the end of the day to park considerately around the school. We have had a few neighbours complain so please be aware of where you park.
Induction Feedback - thank you to those who completed our feedback form about induction this year. We are currently looking into how we can better support communication about our online systems, with the possibility of merging them for ease.
Walk to School Week - next week we will be running our Walking Bus for walk to school week. This is to encourage more families to walk to school, or at least part of the way to school. We will be meeting on the grass area opposite the bus stop, on the corner of Pearsons Way at 8:30am where staff will meet you and all walk to school together (parents too). Parking is available at The Brook Inn for those families that live outside the village and have to drive. If you decide to park along the main road, please be mindful that a double decker bus arrives around 8:25 so please ensure you park considerately to allow the bus access to the bus stop.
Harvest Service - Tuesday 6th October, 2.40pm at St Peters Church, parking is available at Copdock Hall. All parents will need to collect from the church at 3.15pm. Please let us know if your child is at ASC as they will be brought back on the bus. Donations of packets and tins welcome on the day. All collections from school and church will support Ipswich Minster top Up shop.
💛 Hello Yellow Day - Friday 9th October 2026 - This year marks 10 years of Hello Yellow, a special day dedicated to raising awareness of children's and young people's mental health. By wearing yellow and saying hello, we can help start important conversations, spread hope and remind everyone that no young person should feel alone with their mental health.
On Friday 9th October 2026, we are inviting all children to wear something yellow alongside their school uniform. This could be a yellow accessory, T-shirt, socks, hairband, ribbon, or any other yellow item.
Wearing yellow is a simple but powerful way to show support for mental health and wellbeing. Throughout the day, children will take part in a range of activities focused on emotional wellbeing, mental health awareness and strategies to support positive mental health.
We look forward to seeing our school brightened with a splash of yellow as we come together to promote kindness, connection and wellbeing for all. 💛 Wear yellow, say hello and help make a difference!
Flu Vaccinations - on Friday 9th October the vaccination team will be in school. You should have received an email from the vaccination team directly, please ensure you have filled in the from to confirm if you give consent or not for you child to receive the vaccination.
Visits this Year - this year we have planned some visits to support our curriculum as part of our 2 year rolling plan. Where there will be a cost associated with these activities, we have identified this in the attached document. Whilst our school tries to fund as many events as possible, alongside PTA funding, we do sometimes need to request voluntary contributions from families to allow them to take place. This is often due to the travel costs of getting to the venue. These potential contributions are highlighted below before we plan the visits for the year. If you have concerns about being able to contribute to these events, please tell us as soon as possible, so we can decide if the visit can go ahead.
Parent Consultations and shared learning - we have parent consultations planned for 11th and 12th November. The bookings for these will be live after half term.
There is shared learning on Friday 6th November from 2.45pm (from 2.30pm if you have more than one child). Parents will be able to read their child's settling in report as part of shared learning before meeting to discuss targets and progress at the consultations. Please bring your child to the discussions with you so we can chat through learning together.
East Anglian Daily Times - Lego Education Token Collect Competition - tokens will be in EADT newspapers between 28th Sep-30th Nov 2026 for a chance to win £1000 of Lego Education for our federation. Please spread the word to family and friends to collect tokens and hand into school. Thank you.
PTA Information - please find attached some posters from the PTA, detailing all the wonderful things they helped to fund last year for the children, along with a plea for some help. Please consider if you are able to spare some time to help, as without support we run the risk of the children missing out on opportunaties in the future. The AGM is on Thursday 8th October in the school, they would love to see you there!
Wreath Night - on Wednesday 2nd December the PTA will be holding their annual Wreath Night, please see poster for details.
Dress Down Day Thursday 22nd October - no Tricks, Just Treats! Children are invited to come into school in dress down clothing on Thursday 22nd October, in exchange for a Halloween ‘treat’ to be used for the raffle. Please ensure that clothing is appropriate for learning and suitable for school.
Halloween Disco - the PTA will be hosting a Halloween Disco straight after school on Thursday 22nd October in the hall from 3:30pm. Your child is able to go straight from school and will be ready for pick up at 4:30pm. Tickets are £4 per child and are available from the PTA. To purchase tickets, please message Amy Balaam or Charlotte Lawrence, or place an envelope containing payment in the school office.
We hope you have all enjoyed seeing photos and updates about our recent activities in school.

REMINDERS!!!! Please keep up to date with payments - whether it's dinner money or PGL. Thank you. Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly. Earrings must be removed for PE lessons. Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn. Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled. Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening. |

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful! Kittens: seasons & autumn Squirrels: season & different Woodpeckers: TBC Foxes: reversible & irreversible
