Thank you for Macmillan Donations

Amen Shoebox Appeal
Please find attached a leaflet, and information below regarding the shoe box appeal for this year. We will not be putting boxes together in school this year as we continue to support IMTUS but if any families would like to make up a box we will collect the boxes in school or they can be left at the places detailed below.  Please check the leaflet attached for what is needed in the box and send in to school by Monday 2nd November.

‘AMEN’ is the name of a Christian Charity who are asking for support with their Christmas Family Shoebox Appeal for 2026.  AMEN is a registered charity; more information can be found on their website. www.amentrust.co.uk or on Facebook. These boxes are given to very poor communities in Romania, the emphasis being on family and therefore should include something for Mum and Dad and children.

All boxes will be delivered by volunteers direct to families in time for Christmas and will bring much joy and happiness. So, can you help please? Last year we collected and made up 115 boxes, and these were added to ones collected at the central depot in Capel St Mary, a total of 488 left in November 2025.

Doreen Savage is the local co-ordinator being assisted by Alison Partridge. We have leaflets that contain ideas for things that can be included in your boxes, we can provide empty shoeboxes and deliver to you, and we will happily collect filled ones. Completed shoeboxes can be left with Doreen at DELPHIS, Station Rd, Bentley between 26th October and 4th November. More information can be obtained, mobile 07784787596 or Doreen,[email protected] or contact Alison Partridge 07759745678 or [email protected]

We would appreciate if you can complete a full shoebox, however we have a collection point for donations at the village shop for items listed on the leaflets. We need everything by 4th November 2026 – hopefully we can beat last year’s total.

Please find attached a flyer for a Bentley Village Quiz night

Free School Meals
Please see information attached about changes to free school meals that happened this academic year and what that might mean for families.

Visits this year
This year we have planned some visits to support our curriculum as part of our 2 year rolling plan. Where there will be a cost associated with these activities, we have identified this in the attached document. Whilst our school tries to fund as many events as possible, alongside PTA funding, we do sometimes need to request voluntary contributions from families to allow them to take place. This is often due to the travel costs of getting to the venue. These potential contributions are highlighted below before we plan the visits for the year. If you have concerns about being able to contribute to these events, please tell us as soon as possible, so we can decide if the visit can go ahead.

Parent Consultations and Shared Learning
We have parent consultations planned for 11th and 12th November. The bookings for these will be live after half term.
There is shared learning on Friday 6th November from 2.45pm (from 2.30pm if you have more than one child). Parents will be able to read their child's settling in report as part of shared learning before meeting to discuss targets and progress at the consultations. Please bring your child to the discussions with you so we can chat through learning together.

Local Events
We have added a number of local events to our website this week, please remember to regularly take a look on there to see if there is anything of interest for yourself or the children. local clubs and events 2026-27
we are always adding new information from 3rd parties for you to consider - there may be holiday clubs or sporting opportunities, or events taking place in local villages.  We also include courses available to parents on a variety of topics.

We hope you have all enjoyed seeing photos and updates about our recent activities in school.

Safeguarding and Acceptable Use Agreements (AUA)
Our policies have now been updated for 2026-27 and are available on the school website.
Children have discussed the AUA with their teachers this week to support positive online safety.  A reminder that we need parents to read and agree the children's AUA and the agreement for parents via Arbor. Please note that there are changes to the parent agreement to reflect changes in online safety, so we do ask that you read this carefully and check that you have consented. Together we can support safe and positive use of technology. Please update this by Friday 18th September.

Arbor Data  - please check and update
A reminder that ALL parents need check their data on Arbor & ensure everything is up to date and correct.  Please double-check permissions have been completed, along with medical and allergy information.  Historically a hard copy of your data & your child's would have been sent home for checking - Arbor enables this to be a live record, but it does need checking at the start of each school year and updating for changes throughout the year.  Please note you only have access to yours & your child's data - not partners, therefore everybody needs to check their own information.  This data informs our critical incident plan and is imperative we have all the correct information.

Midday Supervisor
Bentley School is looking for a casual Midday Supervisor to support lunchtime activities, 12-1pm. If you are interested and would like to know more please contact the school office 01473 310253

Coats in school
Now that the weather is changing, please send your child in with a waterproof coat each day, we try to get the children out if it is not raining heavily but they cannot go out without a coat (A fleece is not sufficient). Please ensure all coats, fleeces, sweatshirts etc are named so when they are taken off and left outside, we can reunite them.
