Bentley Weekly Update 5.9.25

Important Information to Share

Swimming

Year 3 / 4 should have received a letter regarding swimming lessons which starts on Monday. Please check this and send them in with the swimming costume required.

Monday Federation Learning
As per the letter on Tuesday, Wolves class will be greeted at the gate, ready to get straight onto the school minibus for the journey to Copdock. Hedgehogs and Adders will be transported later in the day. Whilst we intend to bring the children back to Bentley at the end of the day, we hoped that up to 8 children would stay for the after school club and be collected from Copdock. This club is open to children from Year 4 to Year 6. Unfortunately, we have not had a good uptake and therefore would ask if any parents can collect their child/ren on Monday from Copdock School at 3.15pm please let us know as soon as possible, as this may be required.

Wrap around care provision
Don't forget we can offer breakfast and after school care if you need it, 8am until 6pm. Monday is offered at a cheaper rate as there is no transport charge to Copdock. If you join the ASC sports club (Y4-6), you would only need to pay for a session from 4.15-6pm, making it even more affordable! For more information call the school office.

Forest School and PE on Monday
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be doing PE and Forest School on Mondays. They need to wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty (though we do have waterproofs if required). Ideal clothing would be jogging bottoms, t-shirt and a jumper, with trainers. We would really like the children to have a pair of wellies or old trainers, which can be left at school or taken home,  as we will go outside in all weathers.
As Year 3/4 will also do Forest School sessions on Monday after swimming, please can they also come in comfortable clothing for the day, with wellies or old trainers as above.
Year  5 /6 will need to wear PE kit.

The other PE days for PE kit are:
Wolves - Tuesday
Hedgehogs - Tuesday
Adders - Thursday

Monday After School Football club
There are still spaces available for the Monday after school club for Years 4 . 5 and 6 children - this is free!  Sign up on the form on the website by Monday morning.

Coats

As we are having some showers and the weather is likely to turn colder now, please can you send in a waterproof coat each day with your child.  We do try to get children outside at playtime and lunchtime even if it is drizzling so a waterproof coat is necessary (a fleece will not keep them dry). Please ensure all clothing is named so lost property can be reunited with their owner.

End of the School Day

Parents/carers can access the playground from 3pm ready to greet their children. Once handed over, please supervise your children carefully so they leave the site safely and can we ask that siblings do not play with the PE equipment whilst waiting please. All equipment is put away by the children at the end of lunchtime or PE lesson to promote our vision of responsibility. Please can we ask that everyone leaves the site by 3.30pm so the gates can be locked. Thank you for your support.

Family Assembly

Please see the Family Assembly link for the family assembly rota which starts next Friday.

School Instagram Page

The new year has also seen the launch of our new school Instagram page: @bentleyandcopdockfederation.  Here you will be able to keep up to date with what everyone has been getting up to at school and celebrate successes within school.  If you have previously given permission for your child to be on Facebook, this has now been edited to a social media permission and will roll forward with your child being able to appear on Facebook and Instagram.  Please make the office aware if you would prefer your child was not to be featured on our Instagram page.

Arbor

As many of you are aware, we are using Arbor for our information system in school.  Parents have access to this to update your information.  Please could you take some time to check contact information, phone numbers, emails etc.  Please ensure all the consent forms are completed, and if your child has a medical need please update this on the medical section.  It is really important that we have all relevant information on the system.  Please can this be done by Friday 12th September.  Thank you for your support.

Please check the attachments for some information and our Local events and clubs page on the website for things going on in the community.- we are always adding new information from 3rd parties for you to consider - there may be holiday clubs or sporting opportunities, or events taking place in local villages.  We also include courses available to parents on a variety of topics.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
