Bentley Weekly Update 25.9.2026
Important Information to ShareHarvest and Macmillan - Friday 2nd October, 2.15pm - updated information
As per the weekly news last week, we have decided to hold both events at the same time and we hope to see as many families as possible at the event. This will be held at the church from 2.15pm.
The children will be entertaining with songs, poems and greetings as part of our Harvest Service. Donations of packets and tins are welcome on the day with collections supporting Ipswich Minster top Up shop at our October visit. This will be followed by Macmillan, where adults will be served refreshments and delicious treats to support our fundraising for Macmillan.
Cake donations, small and large, will be gratefully received to support this event. Please bring in Thursday 1st October after school or first thing Friday morning.
ENTRY fee £2.50 adults, £1 children. All school children will receive a cake following their performances for a 50p donation.
Payment on spider BEFORE the event where possible please, but money on the door is fine too. (payments are now set up).
(If you are intending to pay on the door, please let us know so we know numbers of people attending.)
Children will be walking to the church from school. If you are not able to attend, please collect children from the church at 3.15pm, usual pick up time.
Thursday 1st October - change to menu
Please find a flyer attached regarding a change to the menu on Thursday, jacket potatoes and sandwiches will also be on offer.
Open days
Please see attached a flyer detailing our open days for families of children who will be starting next September. Please share with other families who may be interested.
Changes to social media posts
We love sharing snapshots of the exciting learning and experiences happening across our school. However, with developments in AI bringing new considerations around the use of children’s images online, we are adapting how we use social media. Children’s faces will no longer be shown in our social media posts. Instead, you will see more creative images showing busy hands, children engaged in activities, backs of heads. We will also show side on images for those children with social media permissions. We can still share and celebrate those special moments while taking additional steps to safeguard our children online.
East Anglian Daily Times-Lego Education Token Collect Competition
Tokens will be in EADT newspapers between 28th Sep-30th Nov 2026 for a chance to win £1000 of Lego Education for our federation. Please spread the word to family and friends to collect tokens and hand into school. Thank you
Local Events
We have added a number of local events to our website this week, please remember to regularly take a look on there to see if there is anything of interest for yourself or the children. local clubs and events 2026-27
we are always adding new information from 3rd parties for you to consider - there may be holiday clubs or sporting opportunities, or events taking place in local villages. We also include courses available to parents on a variety of topics.

REMINDERS!!!! Uniform Order
Please note today is the last day for uniform orders. Orders can be paid for until 4pm today on Spider, forms must be sent into the office to confirm sizes etc.
Payments
Please remember to pay for school meals and morning club as taken or at the end of each week. Thank you for your support
Safeguarding and Acceptable Use Agreements (AUA)
Our policies have now been updated for 2026-27 and are available on the school website.
Children have discussed the AUA with their teachers this week to support positive online safety. A reminder that we need parents to read and agree the children's AUA and the agreement for parents via Arbor. Please note that there are changes to the parent agreement to reflect changes in online safety, so we do ask that you read this carefully and check that you have consented. Together we can support safe and positive use of technology. Please update this by Friday 18th September.
Arbor Data - please check and update
A reminder that ALL parents need check their data on Arbor & ensure everything is up to date and correct. Please double-check permissions have been completed, along with medical and allergy information. Historically a hard copy of your data & your child's would have been sent home for checking - Arbor enables this to be a live record, but it does need checking at the start of each school year and updating for changes throughout the year. Please note you only have access to yours & your child's data - not partners, therefore everybody needs to check their own information. This data informs our critical incident plan and is imperative we have all the correct information.
Midday Supervisor
Bentley School is looking for a casual Midday Supervisor to support lunchtime activities, 12-1pm. If you are interested and would like to know more please contact the school office 01473 310253
Induction feedback
A reminder to all Reception parents and new families to complete our induction feedback form please.
Coats in school
Now that the weather is changing, please send your child in with a waterproof coat each day, we try to get the children out if it is not raining heavily but they cannot go out without a coat (A fleece is not sufficient). Please ensure all coats, fleeces, sweatshirts etc are named so when they are taken off and left outside, we can reunite them.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful Wolves: ocean and rotate Hedgehogs Mesolithic and community Adders: famine and deforestation
