Bentley Weekly Update 24.10.2025

Important Information to Share

Activity Week
Adders children had a great time during activity week, exploring a range of skills and activities and trying lots of new and exciting things. During their reflections, they shared how amazing the kayaking was and they were extremely lucky with the weather too! The walk from Copdock to Bentley was also very enjoyable and a contrast to the more active activities in a busy week. Huge thanks to all staff involved in the week, especially Mrs Saunders and our admin team who coordinated everything. It was lovely to have Adders and Foxes together all week and to see friendships becoming more established across the two schools.

Remembrance and poppy sales
Head pupils and school council will be selling poppies on our return to school along with the usual items (snap bands, reflectors, pencils etc). If you would like your child to purchase something in support of the Royal British Legion, please send them in with their contributions. Recommend donations for poppies is 20p but the other items range from 50p to £2. Parents are also welcome to come in to school at the end of the day to purchase items, there is a QR code on the tin to allow for donation by card.
Our annual service of remembrance will also take place on Tuesday 11th November at the memorial in the village, commencing just before 11am. Older children will lead the service with Rev Mehen and all are welcome to join us.

New Menu after half term
The new menu starts after half term on a week one.  Please see menus attached for you to share with your child so they know what they want to order. The menus are also on our website here .

Attendance
You will receive today by email your child's attendance information for this half term.  This is just an over view for your information.

Online safety update
We have been made aware that children in Suffolk have been engaging in dangerous play / challenges (see attached). Whilst this has not been seen in our school, please be aware and discuss with your child if you feel it is appropriate to do so. Please see information attached.

Children in Need-Friday 14th November
This year, we would like to do something slightly different in support of our local food bank. Linked to the 2025 theme, 'challenge yourself', we are inviting families to donate a box of cereal, instead of a monetary donation. We will be creating a domino effect on the playground, demonstrating to children that each act of kindness has a knock on effect to others around us. The cereal will then be donated to the local food banks to support local children and families in need. The date for this will be Friday 14th November. Children are excited about this already and we have agreed that more than one box of cereal is welcome.

Shared learning
Parents are invited to join their children on Friday 7th November so they can share learning from the term so far. This is an opportunity for you to celebrate successes with your child and identify how you can work together to help them consolidate and apply new skills in the coming weeks. If you have one child please come in at 2.45pm,if you have more than one child, please can you come in at 2.30pm to allow time to see all the work.  Please can we ask that you vacate the table as soon as you have seen your child's work so we can fit everyone in.  Following shared learning, we will be holding parent consultations the following week, where class teachers will share next steps in learning.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
