Bentley Weekly Update 2.10.2026
Important Information to Share💛 Hello Yellow Day - Friday 9th October 2026
This year marks 10 years of Hello Yellow, a special day dedicated to raising awareness of children's and young people's mental health. By wearing yellow and saying hello, we can help start important conversations, spread hope and remind everyone that no young person should feel alone with their mental health.
On Friday 9th October 2026, we are inviting all children to wear something yellow alongside their school uniform. This could be a yellow accessory, T-shirt, socks, hairband, ribbon, or any other yellow item.
Wearing yellow is a simple but powerful way to show support for mental health and wellbeing. Throughout the day, children will take part in a range of activities focused on emotional wellbeing, mental health awareness and strategies to support positive mental health.
We look forward to seeing our school brightened with a splash of yellow as we come together to promote kindness, connection and wellbeing for all.
💛 Wear yellow, say hello and help make a difference!
Visit to Minster 7th October
Some children from Bentley will be visiting the Minster on Wednesday, we would welcome any donations for them to take with them.
Induction Feedback
Thank you to those who completed our feedback form about induction this year. We are currently looking into how we can better support communication about our online systems, with the possibility of merging them for ease.
Visits this year
This year we have planned some visits to support our curriculum as part of our 2 year rolling plan. Where there will be a cost associated with these activities, we have identified this in the attached document. Whilst our school tries to fund as many events as possible, alongside PTA funding, we do sometimes need to request voluntary contributions from families to allow them to take place. This is often due to the travel costs of getting to the venue. These potential contributions are highlighted below before we plan the visits for the year. If you have concerns about being able to contribute to these events, please tell us as soon as possible, so we can decide if the visit can go ahead.
Parent Consultations and Shared Learning
We have parent consultations planned for 11th and 12th November. The bookings for these will be live after half term.
There is shared learning on Friday 6th November from 2.45pm (from 2.30pm if you have more than one child). Parents will be able to read their child's settling in report as part of shared learning before meeting to discuss targets and progress at the consultations. Please bring your child to the discussions with you so we can chat through learning together.
Year 5 & 6 walking to and from school
If your child walks to and from school on their own, please can you remind them that they should be walking sensibly, not running down / up the hill and being kind and careful to their friends around them. There have been some minor issues reported recently, and if they continue we will have to ask parents to drop off / collect from the gate. Thank you for your support.
Local Events
We have added a number of local events to our website this week, please remember to regularly take a look on there to see if there is anything of interest for yourself or the children. local clubs and events 2026-27
we are always adding new information from 3rd parties for you to consider - there may be holiday clubs or sporting opportunities, or events taking place in local villages. We also include courses available to parents on a variety of topics.
We hope you have all enjoyed seeing photos and updates about our recent activities in school.

Safeguarding and Acceptable Use Agreements (AUA)
Our policies have now been updated for 2026-27 and are available on the school website.
Children have discussed the AUA with their teachers this week to support positive online safety. A reminder that we need parents to read and agree the children's AUA and the agreement for parents via Arbor. Please note that there are changes to the parent agreement to reflect changes in online safety, so we do ask that you read this carefully and check that you have consented. Together we can support safe and positive use of technology. Please update this by Friday 18th September.
Arbor Data - please check and update
A reminder that ALL parents need check their data on Arbor & ensure everything is up to date and correct. Please double-check permissions have been completed, along with medical and allergy information. Historically a hard copy of your data & your child's would have been sent home for checking - Arbor enables this to be a live record, but it does need checking at the start of each school year and updating for changes throughout the year. Please note you only have access to yours & your child's data - not partners, therefore everybody needs to check their own information. This data informs our critical incident plan and is imperative we have all the correct information.
Midday Supervisor
Bentley School is looking for a casual Midday Supervisor to support lunchtime activities, 12-1pm. If you are interested and would like to know more please contact the school office 01473 310253
Coats in school
Now that the weather is changing, please send your child in with a waterproof coat each day, we try to get the children out if it is not raining heavily but they cannot go out without a coat (A fleece is not sufficient). Please ensure all coats, fleeces, sweatshirts etc are named so when they are taken off and left outside, we can reunite them.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful Wolves: country and culture Hedgehogs transform' and 'metamorphic' Adders: reversible and irreversible
