Bentley Weekly Update 12.09.2025

Important Information to Share

Harvest Service
Harvest is confirmed for Friday 19th September at 2.30pm. We welcome any donations, which will be to the homeless families unit at East Villa in Ipswich. Children will walk / be taken in the school minibus to arrive at 2.30pm. Families are welcome to join us for the service.  Children will be released to parents at the end of the service to take home.  If you are unable to attend the service, to ease traffic at the church at the end of the service, we will be able to bring some children back to school.  However, we will need to know if you need your child to be brought back to school. Please complete the form on the website by Wednesday 17th September to let us know.

Victorian Day
As mentioned in our welcome back letter, Friday 26th September will be our Victorian Day, where we will travel back in time to explore school life in Victorian times. Children need to come dressed in simple costume, maybe even a chimney sweep or maid. Ideas here. Children will be lined on the playground in the morning to complete their hygiene check so make sure they wash their hands and nails thoroughly before coming to school!

Macmillan Fundraiser and competition
As part of our Victorian Day theme, we will be holding a Victoria Sponge cake competition. Get your culinary skills ready as you might win a prize!
Donations of other cakes will also be welcome (please bring in to school on Thursday, or Friday morning) as all cakes will be used to support our Macmillan event which opens at 2.45pm. Entry charge is £2.50 for adults and 50p for all children in school, or those who join us. Payment is via spider please. Each class will perform as part of our event so sit back and enjoy refreshments whilst you are entertained. Thank you in advance for your support.

Lost Property
We already have a size 32 jumper which was left on the playground and not named.  If your child has lost this please ask them to come to the office to claim it.  Please name all clothing and lunchboxes etc so we can easily reunite belongings with their owners,

Wrap around care provision
Don't forget we can offer breakfast and after school care if you need it, 8am until 6pm. For more information call the school office.

Worship Group
Worship group is now on Tuesdays. Worship Group starts on Tuesday 16th September in Adders Class at lunchtime.

Arbor

REMINDERS!!!!

Forest School and PE on Monday
A reminder that children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be doing PE and Forest School on Mondays. They need to wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty (though we do have waterproofs if required). Ideal clothing would be jogging bottoms, t-shirt and a jumper, with trainers. We would really like the children to have a pair of wellies or old trainers, which can be left at school or taken home,  as we will go outside in all weathers.
As Year 3/4 will also do Forest School sessions on Monday after swimming, please can they also come in comfortable clothing for the day, with wellies or old trainers as above.
Year  5 /6 will need to wear PE kit.

The other PE days for PE kit are:
Wolves - Tuesday
Hedgehogs - Tuesday
Adders - Thursday

Coats

As we are having some showers and the weather is likely to turn colder now, please can you send in a waterproof coat each day with your child.  We do try to get children outside at playtime and lunchtime even if it is drizzling so a waterproof coat is necessary (a fleece will not keep them dry). Please ensure all clothing is named so lost property can be reunited with their owner.

Lunch and Morning Club payments - Please ensure that all payments are paid weekly as taken. thank you for your support. A reminder that if your child has gone in to Year 3 dinners will need to be paid for unless you are in receipt of free school meals.

words.PNG

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
