Welcome to the first week of the Spring Term 2026! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year, spending lots of time with your familiies.

You will need to wear your PE kit on TUESDAY and THURSDAY this week. Please make sure that ALL uniform is named (especially PE jumpers).
The weather is going to be bitterly cold this week, so you MUST bring a warm waterproof coat to school EVERY DAY as you will be expected to go out at playtimes even if it is raining or cold.
The learning behaviour this week is 'Try New Things' and our value this half term is 'Courage'. Our words this week are: 'metamorphosis' and 'embryo'.
Don't forget your retrieval homework is due on FRIDAY 9th JANUARY. Make sure there is enough information and lots of colour on your poster.
This week's homework is:
- Maths - complete the sheet in your book - Long multiplication.
- Spelling sheet - Words with able and ible.
- Revise the second column of the Y5/6 or Y3/4 Common Exception Words for a test this week. The ones you need to learn have been highlighted on the list in the front of your homework book. Begin to learn the third column.
- Writing - use the picture stimulus to write 5 sentences using the different sentence types learnt in class: compound, complex (middle), verb complex and subordinating complex. If you are unsure, please look at this video on the website.
- Use TTRockstars to practise your times tables - you MUST know these!! If you don't, you need to go on here EVERY DAY.
- Read for Pleasure at least FIVE times this week and record this in your diary for our Reading Giants challenge. Ask a grown up to sign your book on Friday's section.
