Adders Class 30.6.25

Date: 26th Jun 2025 @ 1:20pm

Welcome to the fifth week of this half term.

This week's timetable can be accessed HERE.

You will need to wear your PE kit on MONDAY and TUESDAY as you have PE with Ben on Monday morning and cricket at Copdock on Tuesday afternoon.  Please make sure that ALL uniform is named (especially PE jumpers) and you have a hat and suncream on if the weather is going to be warm.

On WEDNESDAY, we are going to Pleasurewood Hills for our end of year treat.  You will need to be in school by 8.15am (come in via the front door) and do not need to wear school uniform.  However, it is forecast to be very warm on Wednesday so please wear suitable clothing (shoulders covered) and wear trainers, a hat and suncream.  You will need to bring a packed lunch to last you the day as we will be leaving the park at 4.30pm, hopefully returning to Bentley between 6-6.30pm.  You may bring up to £5 in spending money.  If you have any questions, then please refer to the letter/email that was sent to your grown-ups.

Please bring into school your clarinet on THURSDAY and make sure you are practising the songs we have learnt at home.  We are also inviting parents in for an end of term concert at 2.45pm.  We hope as many grown-ups can make it as possible.

The learning behaviour this week is 'Don't Give Up' and our value this half term is 'Truthfulness'.  Our words this week are: 'heptarchy' and  'vanquish'.

This week's homework, your final homework this academic year, (to be given out on FRIDAY 4th JULY 2025) is:

  • Maths: Y5: Geometry; Y6: Problem Solving.
  • Writing: Please watch this VIDEO explaining the different types of sentences (from 4mins 24 seconds to 6mins 53 seconds).  The images for each sentence type are also below.  I would like you to write eight sentences in a paragraph about the picture (shown below). The task will be explained in detail in your homework book.  You must write using black handwriting pen and make sure that your presentation is of a high standard (clearly written handwriting and correct spellings).
  • Spelling Sheet - Y5/6 CEW.
  • Practise ALL the Year 5/6 Common Exception Words and your personal spellings.  You will be tested on these spellings on FRIDAY.  I will test you on all of the Y5/6 CEW at the end of this term to compare your scores with your baseline test from September.
  • Use TTRockstars to practise your times tables - you MUST know these!!  If you don't, you need to go on here EVERY DAY.
  • Read for Pleasure at least FIVE times this week and record this in your Log Book for our Reading Giants challenge.  Ask a grown up to sign your book.

Complete your homework and bring into school on FRIDAY 11th JULY 2025.
