Dental Nurse visit to Adders Class

Lesson: Science

Class: Bentley - Adders Year: 2015 - 2016

On Wednesday and Thursday this week, we had a visit from Mrs Coggins, the dental nurse, to talk to us about all the different teeth we have, how much sugar is in our diet and how to clean our teeth correctly.  We learnt we have incisors, molars/pre-molars and canine teeth.

Can you guess how much sugar is in the apple juice, milkshake and bag of Haribos?  We were surprise how much there was in there (9tsp, 15tsp and 22tsp respectively).  We learnt that you should eat all your sugary food and drink items at mealtimes in order to reduce the amount of acid in our mouths.

We had great fun with the disclosing tablets which helped show all the plaque on our teeth.  We learnt how to clean our teeth using small circular movements.
