Welcome from chair

Welcome to our governor pages. All governors share the schools’ vision of helping all children to become confident individuals, successful learners and responsible citizens. We are all very proud to be associated with two successful, innovative and exciting schools.

Since September 2014 Bentley Church of England and Copdock Community Schools have worked collaboratively as part of a federation of two small schools. However, we all recognise the importance of preserving the individual identities of our two school communities.

Our two schools share the leadership of one headteacher and one governing body. This has evolved quite naturally since we first began working in partnership in 2010 and all governors share responsibilities in both schools.

Our governors support the work of our schools in many ways by identifying strengths and next steps through monitoring, observation, consultation and discussion. A key part of our role is to offer challenge and support in building upon the strengths of each school as part of the shared leadership team, whilst remaining aware of the well-being of the children, staff and all members of the school community.

Our team of governors has a wide range of professional experience from different backgrounds including finance, public service, business and IT. We use this experience to enhance all aspects of our work such as health and safety inspections, classroom observation, consultations and financial planning. We are also aware of longer term strategic planning and those issues that may affect our schools. However, there is always room for more experience and we welcome new governors to our team.

The organisation and structure of our governing body can be found in these pages. Do take time to find our more from these pages or contact us for further information.

Bentley School's Christian Ethos

"Know that I am with you always," Matthew 28:20 We encourage the spiritual, social, moral and cultural development of the school family by embedding Christian values into everyday life. Our vision is for all children to be confident individuals, successful learners and responsible citizens who are well equipped for future life, knowing that God is with them always.
