Copdock Weekly Update 23/09/2022

MacMillan Event

We can't wait to welcome you into school on Friday 30th September for some relaxing entertainment over coffee and cake.  Doors will open from 2:30pm and children will be entertaining from 2:45pm.  Donations all go to MacMillan so please give as generously as you can for this important charity.  Entry for adults will be £2 and children 50p (this includes your refreshments).

All school children will have a cake in their class following performances (allergies catered for).  Please send 50p donation in with your child on the day.  Thank you for supporting us with our annual coffee afternoon.  Together we can make a difference :-)

If you would like to donate cakes, they will be gratefully received on Thursday and on Friday morning.  Thank you in advance.

KS1 Visit to Church

Please note that KS1 children will be visiting the church next Thursday as part of their learning about Christenings.  Please ensure they have a coat with them and correct school shoes.  This visit is covered by the permissions slip previously received.

Kittens Clothing

If your child has been lent a pair of pants/knickers, socks or other items of clothing, please can they be returned once they've been washed.  We would also appreciate any spare pairs of underwear aged 4-6 to keep as stock for emergencies.  It may be useful for Reception children to keep a spare set of clothing on their pegs in case they are needed.

Harvest - 13th October

We hope you will be able to join us for our Harvest Festival at the Church.  All food donations will be shared with the Homeless Families Unit in Ipswich.  Contributions of tinned/packet food will be gratefully received on the morning so these can be transported to the Church.

Flu Vaccinations

Coming up on the day of our Harvest Festival we also have the school nursing team coming in with flu vaccinations.  Please see the attached letter where there is an E-Consent link - you can give or decline consent.  Please ensure this has been done prior to 11th October.  Children cannot receive the vaccine without consent.  More details are in the letter should you have any questions.

Reminders

If your KS2 child would like to participate in the ASC starting on Monday, please let the office know over the weekend (details on last week's newsletter).  Please also let us know if your Fox is able to attend Young Voices in February.  I may have confused some people with the date - the event is on 6th February 2023 (not on 23rd!).  Please see the leaflet attached to the email sent a couple of weeks ago for more information.  Don't forget that PGL payments are due by Friday!  Please either pay by cash, cheque or via the website.  If you have any issues with payment which we are not already aware of, please get in touch as soon as possible.

As per our uniform policy, all jewellery should be removed prior to PE sessions (including swimming).  If your child has pierced ears, the earrings must be removed for PE sessions - if they are unable to remove them by themselves, please ensure they are removed before school.  Taping earrings is not suffiicient.

Deadline for the 100 Club is Friday 30th September - get your number now to stand a chance of winning - all whilst helping the school - what's not to like!

Parent Workshops

Following our parent questionnaires last year, we are pleased to launch the first of our parent workshops for this coming year.  Thank you for sharing what you would find most useful in supporting your child's learning.

How to support next steps in reading (Year 2 to Year 6) - 12th October 6pm (creche provided if needed), venue to be confirmed.  Please confirm attendance here.

Maths workshop - learn alongside your child - see dates below.  Please confirm attendance here.

Y5/6 - 31st October 2:20-2:50pm (before their Shared Learning)

Christmas Cake Club

We are hoping to run our Christmas Cake Club again after half term.  This is aimed at KS2 children and would be dependent on their parent being able to offer assistance.  Further details of the club will be shared once they have been confirmed.  If your KS2 child would be interested in participating and you are able to help, please let us know so that we can begin to finalise the finer details.

PTA News

Don't forget the PTA AGM will be held on Wednesday 5th October in the school hall.  We hope to see as many people as possible attending.  The last event was a joint Community Fete in the summer raising an amazing £2662.58 - these proceeds being split between the school and pre-school.
