Copdock Weekly Update 22/05/2020

Thank you for responding to our survey and for being so open and honest about your reasons for your decision. We appreciate this is a challenging time for everyone and your children are precious... they are to us too!

To support you to engage in discussions with your child about the return to school, I have attached a useful social story you may like to share with them when you feel the time is right. I will also be recording  a short video for you to share with them during this week.

Following the information received, we are aware that we have a small number of children who intend to return to school on Monday 1st June, assuming we are open. We have a larger number of Key Worker / priority group children returning and understand that some of you do not know yet what your working circumstances will be until next week. If you have not informed us of your days yet, please do so as soon as possible.

If you are a Key Worker and your circumstances change between now and Wednesday 27th May, it is ESSENTIAL that  you let us know. We cannot confirm a place from 1st June if we do not know in advance. Increased numbers will affect our planned return for Reception and Year 1 due to the limited space we have available.

At this stage, we still plan to open on 1st June, if the Government confirm that the conditions they set have been met. However, we are aware that the SAGE group have reported new information today and that a decision by the government is not expected until Friday 29 May 2020. We will be planning based on the responses we have received and a letter will come out to all Reception, Year 1 and priority group children after the weekend. This will detail the arrangements in place and include a link to the full risk assessment. A copy of this will be added to the website as reference for all.

Pre-School will not currently be able to offer any before or after school care as they are engaging in plans to reopen as per Government guidance too.

I will contact you all again on Friday 29th to confirm plans. All staff will be meeting on this date to ensure the final arrangements are in place for opening on Monday, should this be the case.

If you have any further questions please do send them in and check out the FAQ page of the website.

Attached is a letter form the Local Authority explaining their current approach too

Happy News!

We are pleased to be able to give an update on our recruitment for a new teacher ready for September.

Following interviews today, we are excited to welcome Miss Pip Waterhouse-Biggins to Woodpeckers Class. (Miss Waterhouse to the children!) She is very excited to be joining the team and looks forward to meeting you all soon.

Please also take a look at the link https://www.anglianwater.co.uk/in-the-community/schools/learning-at-home/ for some exciting STEM learning to engage the whole family.
