Copdock Weekly Update 19/05/2023

THIS WEEKS ROUNDUP

Chess Tournament

This week, 4 children played chess at Orwell Park School.  It was a great opportunity for primary aged children to test their skills against other players.  Well done to Joseph, Brendan, Oliver and Pippa.  Pippa was especially proud of her achievements, winning most of her games and drawing the others.  Chess club will continue to run on Monday lunchtimes, please encourage your child to talk to Pippa if they would like to attend.

Induction Meeting

This week we met some of our new families who will be joining us in September.  Coming up after half term we have lots of induction events for the children to become more familiar with the school, staff and other pupils.

Football Tournament

This afternoon, Foxes and Adders took 3 teams to St Joseph's College to participate in a football tournament.  They worked hard in the sunshine and earnt themselves some excellent refreshments, although the results didn't necessarily go their way.

SRE

Please see the email sent earlier this week specific to your child's year group, about Relationships Education and Health Education.  Don't forget to let us know if you will be attending our coffee & chat on Friday 9th June at 2:10pm - ahead of Shared Learning.

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT WEEK

Colchester Trip

Next Wednesday, Woodpeckers will be joining Hedgehogs on a trip to Colchester.  Pupils should come to school at normal time wearing their uniform comfortable footwear.  They also need a waterproof coat.  Please ensure they bring a packed lunch and drink for the day.  The payment for this needs to be made by Monday to authorise your child to attend.  This can be made via School Spider or by cash in a named envelope.

Netball

Those Foxes attending the Netball on Thursday need to come to school at normal time in PE kit.  They will need a packed lunch and plenty of water, plus sun protection and a waterproof - dependent on the weather.  They will be back before the end of the school day.

Bedtime Story

Miss Barton is planning a special bedtime story on Thursday evening at 6:30pm.  Get snuggly with your teddy and log on - don't forget, cameras and microphones need to be off.  Use this link to access the story.

OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION

Website Updates
We have been updating our website to make it more accessible for parents and visitors.  You will now find the NEWS AND LETTERS under the new PARENTS tab.  Please do have a look around and if you cannot find anything, just ask.

Talent Show Update

Auditions will be taking place after half term so please support your children to be ready ?
Copdock: Tues 6th, Fri 9th and 16th June
Depending on the number of 'wannabes' we may add additional dates.  Children can audition as a group or individual depending on their act.  A sign up sheet will be available in school so children can add their names, act and any further information.  This will help us to plot a time for their audition to take place.  Adults in school will support children to do this if need be.  If your child needs music to audition, it is important that they either bring in a CD or the track is sent to school on 5th June please ready.
Please ensure your child has a good understanding that whilst we are really excited to ensure they all get to audition so they can show their confidence, not everyone will be able to perform on the day as we will be looking for a range of acts to showcase.  We do not want any upset children, so it is better to prepare them in advance ?
Info to follow about tickets for the show soon!
