Copdock Weekly Update 15/01/2021

Remote Learning
We hope those of you working from home have all settled into a learning routine now. Thank you for your positive comments and appreciation for the support teachers have provided. They do make all the difference!
A new page is now available on the website with the key documents to support you in responding to learning expectations Remote Learning Jan 21.
As a reminder, please make sure your child is accessing the daily discussion and teacher video. This outlines what work is to be completed each day and we do expect everyone to upload a completed task as referenced in the video. We want to support all children to continue developing and applying new skills and we cannot do so if they do not upload their work. Teachers are happy to arrange a time to discuss this with you and your child over a video call if you need further support. Thank you to all who have been doing this already (which is most of you!), the learning is super and shows a great deal of dedication from both parents and children during this difficult time for us all. Keep up the fantastic work ðŸ˜Š

We would love to hear your comments about what is going well and what we can do to further support you. An evaluation form will come out in the next couple of weeks but please do let us know if you have any comments or suggestions before then.

Policy Updates
The addendums for our Behaviour Policy and Child Protection & Safeguarding policies have been updated and are also available on the above link. These give important structures for how we will implement our policies during partial closure.

New Resource
To support children to practice and apply the core skills in an engaging way, we have access to Education City until half term. This is an online programme with games and activities matching the national curriculum objectives for each year group. https://go.educationcity.com/
All children have been set up with a log in. Please call or email the school for your child's log in details. Have fun!

Ofsted
You may recall towards the end of last term we had a remote review with Ofsted.  Earlier this week the resultant letter was circulated for your attention.  If you've yet to read it, please take a look.  It can also be found on the website here.

Learning Reviews
Earlier in the week you will have received an email confirming the changed times to the learning reviews on Fridays and the suspension of the Family Sharing assemblies.  In summary, the revised times are:
Kittens - 11.30-12pm as before
Squirrels - 1.05-1.35pm
Woodpeckers - 1.45-2.15pm
Foxes - 2.30-3pm

Foxes Flute Tuition
From this week Foxes class have had a worksheet from which to practice their flute as part of their music lesson.  If they have yet to collect their flute from school, please contact the office as soon as possible to arrange a convenient time to pick it up.

Other Resources
Remember to visit the website on the Local Clubs & Events page for news of additional resources that may be of interest.  This page gets added to each week as new information comes through to us.  Here's some additional things that may be of interest:
OneLife Suffolk are running their family clubs via Zoom.  Please see the attached information for further details of what's on offer and how to get involved.
Blue Peter are again promoting their YouTube channel and have asked us to share this with you https://www.youtube.com/bluepeter if you prefer to watch the programme itself, it airs live on CBBC at 5.00pm every Thursday, or on BBC iPlayer.
Chance to Shine have been into school in the past, and are now offering cricket sessions on a Wednesday afternoon https://www.chancetoshine.org/live, this week’s session will be on Wednesday 20 January at 2-2.45PM. It will be a Cool Catcher session, improving pupils' throwing and catching skills and helping them to track an object in flight.  The activities can be completed indoors and to take part you will need:
  • A ball or a rolled up pair of socks
  • A wall to rebound the ball off, with enough space around (2 metres) to complete the activity safely

This week’s session will also feature the opportunity to do some pairs work as well if there is another person to do so with (but this isn’t a requirement and the activities can all be completed solo).  The session will be streamed via YouTube and be accessible by going to chancetoshine.org/live or on our YouTube channel at this link: https://youtu.be/uYyvkI0tpnk.  Subscribe to our channel to receive alerts when we go live in the future by clicking here.  If pupils aren’t able to join in live, the session will be available to watch back in the same place.
