Copdock Weekly Update 13/03/2020

Newsletter – 13th March 2020

THIS WEEK:

Coronavirus Update:  A plan has been drafted across our local cluster of schools so staff and governors are well placed to act quickly on any updates from the PHE.  Please stay updated by visiting https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public.  We will continue to update you on any decisions which may affect school and our families.

Newsround have produced a useful resource if you wish to discuss this with your child at home. It is more suitable for older children but you may choose to use it to support discussion. https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/51342366

Tag Rugby:  On Monday 9 children from Foxes class took part in a tag rugby tournament at Ransomes sports ground.  They played several long games against various other schools.  Despite a slow start, they soon threw themselves into the games and won some challenging matches.  They used their skills well and these developed throughout the afternoon.  As always, they represented Copdock exceptionally well.  Well done to all that took part.

Sport Relief:  Thank you to everyone who donated for our dress sporty event today, we have raised £44 thus far!  The children have taken part in various activities this afternoon as part of our sponsorship drive with all monies going to Sport Relief, we have already collected £85 from sponsor forms!  If you have yet to complete a sponsorship form, these can be printed from the school website, if you do not have access to a printer then please ask the office who will happily print a hardcopy for you.  Please ensure all sponsorship money is returned by next Friday 20th when we will be able to give you a grand total.  Thank you for your generosity toward this worthwhile charity.

NEXT WEEK:

Zoo Visit:  We are really looking forward to the visit from Kimmy’s Zoo on Tuesday, the meerkats and pygmy hedgehogs are sparking children’s imaginations in the lead up to enhance their topic work.  Thank you to those families, who have sent in the £3 contribution already, if you haven’t done so already, please send it in in a named envelope.  Thank you.

Spelling Bee:  For those Foxes attending the Spelling Bee at EBHS next week, please ensure you arrive by 8:45am so that we can leave promptly.  You will need to have a packed lunch with you.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • The annual AUDAX BIKE RIDE will be taking place on Saturday 28th March and, as usual, our PTA will be offering refreshments.  We would therefore appreciate donations of cakes please on the Friday.  If you can spare some time to help serve please get in touch so that we can pass your details on to the PTA.
  • Don’t forget the READING CHALLENGE is underway and parents should sign KS1 yellow reading record books or KS2 log books to show your child has read 5 times in a week.  There is a proven link between reading for pleasure and academic progress, it is essential that every child reads to meet the demands of a challenging curriculum.
  • Are you an online shopper?  Did you know you can support our school in a simple, easy way?  Follow this link https://www.thegivingmachine.co.uk/giver/join/?pbid=60521 and sign up to THE GIVING MACHINE, shop online through this website and help our school raise some funds – it doesn’t cost you anything.  Every purchase, however small, will make a big difference.  The link will also be on our website.
  • Please ensure you have booked your PARENT CONSULTATION slot.  If you have any difficulty accessing the school website please do let us know so that we can rectify this sooner rather than later.  If you are unable to make any of the appointment times on offer please do contact us to arrange another convenient time.
