Copdock Weekly Update 12/11/2021

Covid Update

We are aware that there have been a few positive covid cases in different classes over the last week or two.  Whilst there is no cause for concern regarding transmission in school, we would urge you to keep an eye on your child and if you have any concerns, please get a PCR test.  This will help and support us to keep everyone safe.  We await further instructions on Monday as to the restrictions currently in place.

School Photos

We had Bentley Photographic in this week to take our individual and sibling photographs.  Each child will have brought home a ticket which contains all the information you need to log onto the website to view the photographs and make your purchases.  If you register with an account now you will automatically be notified when the photographs are available to order online.

Remembrance

This week we have marked remembrance with a minute silence in assembly.  Thank you to everyone who contributed to the poppy appeal this year.

Village Litter Pick

There is a village litter pick arranged for Saturday 13th November from 10am until noon, meeting at the Church Room on The Street in Washbrook.  Please see the village facebook page for more details if you would like to get involved.

Anti-Bullying Week

Head pupils have asked me to remind everyone about wearing odd socks all of next week for anti-bullying week - thank you for your support.

Children in Need

Next Friday is Children in Need.  Don't forget to bring in your 50p in exchange for wearing bright colours to school for the day!

Family Learning Sessions

We are awaiting confirmation that it is permitted to allow parents back on school site and hopefully will know on Monday. Assuming we can go ahead we will welcome parents into school to share their children's learning next week.  To ensure you have advance warning for this, we can confirm the provisional arrangements are Wednesday 2.45pm Woodpeckers, Thursday 2.45pm Foxes, Friday 2.45pm Squirrels & Kittens.

Parent Consultations

Parent consultations will be live for booking on the website later today.  Please see the attached poster about using the School Spider app to book your appointment.  These will be held virtually on Teams for Year 1 to Year 6.  A link will be sent nearer the time.  Dates are as follows:
23rd November 3:30-5:30pm - years 1-6
24th November 5-7pm - years 1-6
Reception parents will be invited in to discuss their child's progress as a face to face meeting and you will be able to see the available times throughout the week on the website.

Public Health Information

Please see the attached table which has recently been shared with us.  It's a really helpful reference for common childhood illnesses and when to stay off school.  We thought it might be helpful as a point of reference if your child is unwell.  This works alongside the guidance about COVID isolation.

CHRISTMAS - HEADS UP!

Christmas Decoration Making

Children will be getting creative and decorating the hall on Friday 26th November, ready for our tree service on 29th.  If your child is in Kittens class and you would like to work alongside your child during the afternoon to make a decoration, please let us know.

Advent Tree Service

As is tradition, we will be holding our annual tree service to welcome the season of advent.  This will be on Monday 29th November at 2:45pm.  Reception and Year 1 parents are invited to attend this service in school if they would like to and we will video the event for others who may choose to watch it later.  Please let us know if you are hoping to attend.

Christmas Performances

We are looking to share our nativity with KS1 parents this year.  We are proposing to hold two showings probably on one day, at 9.30am and 2.30pm. More information, including a date, will follow soon.  We are currently discussing an event for KS2.  This may be before or after the Christmas period and we will keep you updated.

Christmas Fayre

Please see the attached posters advertising our Christmas Fayre on Friday 10th December.  The eldest child from each family will be bringing home 2 books of raffle tickets today.  Please ensure all stubs and monies, or unsold tickets are returned to school by Wednesday 8th!

Christmas Dinner

This year we will be holding our Christmas Dinner on Wednesday 15th December.  Keep an eye out next week for an email with the menu attached and a 'Form' to complete online to pre-order your dinner.  This will need to be pre-ordered by Friday 3rd December.  Payment can be made in cash (named envelopes please) or by cheque, you can also pay for school dinners via the SCC website here.  In the new year we hope to bring you payments via our website - keep an eye on the newsletter for more information coming your way soon.
