Copdock Weekly Update 09/02/2024

Information to Share

Coffee and Chat - we will be holding a curriculum catch up on Friday 1st March from 2.15pm, just before shared learning in classes.  Miss Cross will share some of the strategies we are using in class to support children to be more active in their learning.  It will also be an opportunity to ask any questions about the curriculum.  We look forward to seeing you there.  Please let us know if you will be dropping in https://forms.office.com/e/wK9cpLsw4G

Shared learning will be open from 2.45pm, however if you need to visit more than one child please feel free to come in from 2.30pm to allow enough time to chat through learning with your child/ren.  Due to space we would ask that parents who need to bring younger children with them, join us after school at 3.15pm.

Consultation - please see the attached information regarding a consultation on providing specialist places for special educational needs in Ipswich.  Please complete and return the consultation question by 12th March.

PTA Meeting - Monday evening sees the first spring PTA meeting, being held by Zoom at 8pm - please join the meeting via this link to find out what's coming up (including an Easter Disco) and how you could get involved.

Tuesday Dessert - please see the attached poster for details of a change to our dessert next week as we mark Shrove Tuesday.

Computational Workshop - year 4 children will be attending a computational workshop run by BT at St Jo's next week.  Please see the email sent earlier this week for full details.  Please note they may return after 3:15pm.

World Book Day - Thursday 7th March - World Book Day is coming up after half term, children will all receive a £1 book token to spend on buying a new exciting book to read.  We won't be asking children to dress up this year, but we are planning to run a 'decorate a paper plate' competition. Children will be given a paper plate to take home and decorate around a character from their favourite book.  The deadline for entries is Friday 1st March.  The winners will be announced on World Book Day.  There will be a prize for the winner from each class.  (Please ensure that your child writes their name on the back of the plate).

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
