Copdock Weekly Update 08/07/2022

Responsible Citizens

Here at Copdock we encourage our pupils to become responsible citizens.  One way in which you could help with this, is to ensure names are put in items of uniform, especially jumpers and cardigans.  As the children warm up during break time they discard their outer layer.  Unfortunately many of them forget to pick them up when they return to class.  We are unable to return them if we don't know who they belong to.  Any without names in are put on the lunch box trolley, this pile is becoming rather large.  Please ensure clothing is named, and encourage the children to check for them at the end of break.

In September we will be taking a firmer standpoint on correct uniform being worn, including PE kit.  Please bear this in mind as the children outgrow their uniform towards the end of term.  Remember, you can send in good, clean 2nd hand uniform to be sold onto others.  You can also purchase items of 2nd hand uniform if you only need something to the end of term.

QuadKids

This week some of our year Foxes went to Northgate for a QuadKids event.  Next week it's the turn of our Woodpeckers to enjoy the QuadKids event at Inspire.  Children attending with require water and snacks, please ensure sun cream has been applied and that a hat is also sent along.  Children will need to wear PE kits.  Children need collecting from Inspire at 4:15pm.  If you are unable to collect or need your child to return to school, please ensure the office are aware by Monday morning at the latest.  Please see this link for The Festival of Suffolk Community Games.

KS1 Mersea Island Trip

KS1 are really excited for their trip to Mersea Island on Tuesday.  The weather is expected to be HOT, children can wear non-uniform but please ensure there are no bare shoulders and no sandals - sensible shoes for walking please.  Please apply a complete sunblock before school.  Children will need hats, plenty of water and a packed lunch.

Swimming

Those children swimming on Monday will also require shorts and t-shirts AS WELL as their usual costume/trunks please.

Pleasurewood Hills

On Wednesday our Foxes are heading to Pleasurewood Hills for the day!  Children can wear non-uniform but please take account of the weather and ensure they have a hat and possibly a raincoat.  They should also have sun cream applied.  The children need to be in school promptly at normal time, but will not be back until around 7:30pm - they must be collected from site please.

Elections

Next week we will be holding our school council elections and preparing for our head pupil elections.  Please ensure candidates are practicing their speeches and working on their manifestos in preparation!

Class Swap Day

Next Friday sees our new starters concluding their inductions, by staying for lunch.  The rest of the school will have their class swap day, where they get to explore where they will be and who they will be with in September.

Raffle

Don't forget the Community Fete is next Saturday.  Thank you for the fabulous bottle and tombola donations today for our dress down day - it is all much appreciated.  Make sure you get your raffle ticket stubs and monies to the office during the earlier part of next week.  If you would like more tickets please let us know.

Sports Tokens

Don't forget to send in the sports tokens.  They finish being published next week, so there will be 8 bonus tokens every day next week in the local press!  On Tuesday our year 6s will feature in the Top Class supplement.  Some of you may also be interested in this article advertising meals for £1 at ASDA during the summer.

Dinners

As the end of term approaches, could we please ask that all dinner monies are settled by the end of next week.  Hot dinners will still be available on the last 3 days of term, but please could these be paid for in advance if possible.  Meals can be paid for through the website, by cheque or in cash (in a named envelope please).  Thank you for your assistance.

Next week's grab & go lunch on Thursday will be margherita pizza with wedges, or vegetarian enchilada, crunchy veggie sticks, followed by smoothie ice cream.  Jacket potatoes with cheese and beans will also be available.
