Copdock Weekly Update 08/01/2021

Happy (if a little strange) new year to you all!

Thank you to everyone for their superb efforts this week getting to grips with remote learning.

We are very proud of the children (and adults!) for their contributions to discussions and the work completed.  We hope you all managed to access the live sessions this week, enjoying a story from Mrs Robinson or Mr Ross, joining an assembly and reviewing your week with your class teacher.

Remember to follow the guidelines in our Online Protocol Guide which will help to keep us all safe during these sessions.

Donations of Devices

You may have seen the BBC - Give a laptop campaign which was promoted again yesterday.  If you know of anyone who can help please let them know.  We will let you know of anyone who makes contact with us at school too so we can support any families who do not have ready access to online resources for each child.

We have applied for some data sims too for our school and if successful will distribute these to families who need them.

Children in school

We have 24 children attending school at the moment which is a high percentage of our pupil role.  Whilst we can manage this at the moment we are almost at capacity if we are to have an effective risk assessment to keep everyone safe and socially distanced.  I am aware that some of you need provision every day due to being critical workers with no other adult at home to provide care for your child. However, if you do have another adult at home who can support remote education, we may need to operate a priority list in the future if numbers increase.

Government guidance released yesterday states...

“parents and carers who are critical workers should keep their children at home if they can.”

For children in Reception classes, “only vulnerable children and children of critical workers should attend on-site reception classes”

We urge you to reflect on this guidance and where possible to keep children at home and still work, then that is a safer thing to do for both you, the staff and wider families belonging to our school.

Dress Code in School

Please can you send children to school dressed in uniform but wearing trainers every day. This will allow them to take part in Joe Wicks sessions and do PE activities outdoors.

Remember they also need a coat with them every day.

Logins

Please ensure you have made a note of your child's logins for the school website, spelling shed and TT rockstars (where applicable).  If you have any issues with access please do let us know.

School Place Deadline

If you have a child who is due to start school in September, the deadline to apply for a place is next Friday (15th January).  You can access the admissions information and application at www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions or contact the admissions team on 0345 600 0981.

RSPB Big Bird Watch

Don't forget the RSPB Big Bird Watch is coming up this month.  To find out more visit https://www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/birdwatch/.  One of our families has kindly donated some bird seed.  If you would like to collect a small bag of seed please let us know.

School Website

Please see attached document which is a guide for parents about the pupil area of the school website.  We thought this might be useful in answering some of your queries.  Every week there will be a timetable published on the class blogs - this can be accessed without logging in.  Teachers will upload a daily video to the discussion page which you do need to log in to access.  Every afternoon there will be a live assembly for you to join, and a family assembly on Fridays.  These will all start at 2:15pm, the links will be on the class pages - the links cannot be emailed as they are live events, they are only accessible by our school members.
