Copdock Weekly Update 05/06/2020

As ever, we hope you are all keeping well. Please read the following information carefully, and respond where necessary, about the phased re-opening of the school.
Year 6 parents
Now we have successfully implemented the return of some Reception and Year 1 pupils, we are keen to include Year 6 in our next stage of planning. Please read the attached information on the website here. We are keen to hear your thoughts and questions so please do respond as requested.

Key Worker and vulnerable children
To support our effective planning, it is really important  to know who is coming into school each week.  Therefore, if you are a key worker and your child is coming into school, we need to know by Wednesday each week, which days they require for the following week.
Thank you to those parents who have confirmed their requirements for next week.  If you need your child to join our priority pupil group in the next phase starting on the 15th June, we need to know by next Wednesday, 10th June.

Parents of children in Reception and Year 1
It has been lovely seeing some of the children back in school this week. They have been extremely sensible with our new routines and have enjoyed the activities on offer. If you have a child in Year 1 or Reception who are looking to return from Monday 15th June, please ensure you let us know by Wednesday 10th so that we can include them in our numbers and get our planning in place. We will let you know by Friday 12th if we can accommodate your child.

If we do not hear from you by the Wednesday in both circumstances, it will be assumed that you do not need a place in school for the following week.  It is also imperative that the staggered drop off and collection times are adhered to.  This helps to ensure the minimum number of people are on site and allows one bubble to exit before the next bubble is due to leave.  This will become more prevalent as the numbers of pupils in school increases.  If you are unsure of the timings for your child, please check emails or the website.

For those children coming into school, please see the revised menu on the website http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/serve_file/610358 for details of the packed lunches on offer, the usual costs apply.  Please also ensure your child has the relevant weather-related equipment in school each day - a hat/suncream if it's nice, or a coat/jacket if it's a little chilly or wet.

All parents
This half term our value is Friendship and we would like to share an opportunity for children and families to take part in some shared stories and links to promote this important value, now more than ever.  Mrs Austin has trialed a live video link with the superhero groups who are in school across both sites.  A link will be shared on your child's discussion page of the website for future live shares; hopefully, if successful, we can use this as a way of keeping in touch as a school community each week. More info to follow soon.

The Worship at home sheet for next week is Making a Difference and is attached to this email.  It includes the parable of the star fish, with some activities and art to do with star fish and letting your light shine. This follows on nicely to our theme from this week 'Under the Sea'.

Home Learning
During our phone calls home, some of you mentioned you did not know how to access the learning timetable for your child. Each week this will be part of the blog on the school website. You do not need to log in to access this. Once you select your class blog, you will see the timetable for the week attached to Monday of that week. The files will download to your computer so you can access it all week. Please do let us know if you have any problems.
If your child logs in, they can then add contributions, photos and learning.  It has been lovely to see the contributions to the discussions again this week and hopefully we will see some more on next week too.
