Copdock Weekly Update 04/12/2020

PTA Quiz Night

The PTA would like to thank those who supported their Virtual Quiz on Friday night.  13 teams took part in a successful evening.  The top 2 teams donated their prizes back to the PTA, and so, after costs, £137.48 was raised!  They are looking to host another in the future so keep an eye on the newsletter for more details nearer the time.

Wreath Raffle

We have been very lucky and had this beautiful wreath donated to us by Bentley Blooms.  You could win it and have it hanging on your door next weekend!  To be in with a chance of winning, please bring £1 into school next week, we will add your name to the hat and the draw will take place in next week's family sharing assembly!  It's as simple as that, £1= 1 chance of winning.  All monies raised will go to the school.

PGL Update

We have been in discussion with PGL to re-arrange the Foxes residential which would normally have been and gone.  We can now confirm that we have managed to book from the 5th to the 9th July!  We are very happy to report that despite this being the prime time for them, they are honouring the original price. Look out for a slightly revised kit list coming your way nearer the time!

Virtual Christmas Fayre

Please see the email sent to you on Tuesday with details of the Virtual Christmas Fayre being organised by our PTA for Friday 11th December.  Choose between The Snowman, The Reindeer and the Father Christmas packages.  See the posters in the office windows, attached to the newsletter and on the noticeboards for further details.  Funds raised will go towards resurfacing the school playground.

Deadline Reminders

  • Don't forget if your child would like to participate in the Christmas Dinnerfor their key stage, this needs to be ordered TODAY!  They have an opportunity to order a school packed lunch on the other key stage's Christmas Dinner day, otherwise the menu for that week is as advertised.  If nothing has been ordered, you will need to provide them with a packed lunch from home on those days.
  • If you are happy for your child to watch the panto with their bubble and you would like them to enjoy a treat in the interval, please complete the form attached to last week's newsletter and send it in with £1 by next Friday.

Family Sharing Assembly Friday 18th December

As we are going to be watching the pantomime on the afternoon of our last day in school, we've arranged to hold our last Family Sharing Assembly of the term in the morning at 9:30am.  Hopefully this should give parents enough time to get home and make a cup of tea ready to see the children sharing that week.  Those involved have been notified separately.  We hope as many of you as possible will join us using the same link as has been used all term.

Maths Bags

A few years ago, our PTA helped us to purchase equipment to enable all children to have access to a Maths Bag as a library loan.  These are now available for loan for the remainder of the year.  The KS2 bags include a reference book to help children practise key concepts at home, either by themselves or with adult support.  All of the bags contain practical equipment to use for maths and contain a Parent Guide to place value and number to support you with ideas of things your child should be practising at home.  As the bag contains practical equipment, there is a cost to parents if the bag is not returned complete at the end of the Summer Term.  We don't mind, for example, if some number cards get lost or the white board pen runs out, but if you lose the Numicon pieces or base 10 equipment, you will be asked to pay to replace them.  Parents have found them really useful in the past to support children with maths at home.  Please email the Office or speak to your child's class teacher if you would like to loan a Maths Bag for the remainder of the year.

Gift Giving

We have been asked about the possibility of sharing gifts with staff this Christmas.  Whilst the most precious gift is often a few kind words of thanks, if you do choose to send a gift into school, please clearly label it with the teachers name and send it via the office where a box will be waiting to quarantine it.
