Copdock Weekly Update 04/09/2020

WELCOME BACK!

It's great to see you all again - we've all missed you.  Thank you for all your efforts to get the children to school today, especially all of you who walked; it was really helpful and flowed quite nicely.  Could we please ask that you try to ensure you stick to the relevant time slot to avoid creating a bottle-neck or children having to pass younger children in the queue.  We know this is a challenge and until today you may not have known the time you needed to leave. We are working really hard in school to keep the children safe in their bubbles and appreciate your support in doing this.  Please can we remind parents, as per the government advice, to maintain a 2-metre distance and consider wearing a mask to ensure our school community stays safe. We don't want a school closure or any unnecessary illness. Thank you ðŸ˜Š

School Spider

Our website suppliers, School Spider, have had an upgrade during the summer months and have suggested that we recommend parents to update their version of the app if using it.  Please ensure you are able to sign into the school website or have access to the app as it will be a vital form of communication over the coming months.

Home School Value

Please see the link for this term's leaflet on the topic of generosity.

Uniform

Many pupils have grown during the lockdown and holidays, and parents have been asking about uniform orders.  We have spoken to our suppliers and are hoping to arrange a uniform order around half term.  In the meantime, we have some second-hand items available for a donation.  If you would like to see what's available, we will put the items on a table on the playground on Monday afternoon at collection time - please bring some money with you and pop it in the pot supplied.  We usually ask for £2 per item.

PE Days

On the days that the children have PE they should come into school wearing their PE kits and trainers.  They will remain in them all day.  KS1 children have PE on Mondays, Woodpeckers will have PE on Tuesdays and Fridays, Foxes will be doing PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  PE will start next week except for Foundation who will start the following week.  Therefore years 1 & 2 should come into school in their PE kits on Monday.

Reminders

Please ensure the children have raincoats in school as we will be utilising the outdoor space as much as possible unless heavy rain hinders this.  We will also be keeping windows and doors open to enable a flow of air so school may be slightly cooler than usual and a jumper or cardigan would be beneficial.  Children also need their water bottles in school every day.

Wellbeing Suffolk

We have been asked to share this newsletter with our families and encourage them to self-refer to Wellbeing Suffolk if they are struggling with any mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, stress or low-mood.  Support is offered by telephone, video call, instant messaging and webinar.   https://www.wellbeingnands.co.uk/suffolk/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2020/08/Parents-Wellbeing-by-Wellbeing-Suffolk-2020.pdf

Please also check the school website for any other information we have been asked to share with you.

Data Collection

Please ensure you respond to the email sent earlier today requesting any changes to data - this process replaces the forms we usually send out for completion.  To be in with a chance of winning a box of chocolates, get your reply in by Monday!!!!

Positive Parenting

As children start school and transfer to a new key stage, they grow, develop and change.  We have copies of positive parenting books for 4-8 year olds and 8-12 year olds available for £1.  They're a practical guide for parents on how to manage behaviour positively and effectively.  There are suggestions for managing bedtimes and mealtimes, ideas for encouraging independence and approaches for encouraging appropriate behaviour.  There are also helpful suggestions on preparing young children for nursery and school.  If you would like a copy please send in £1 in a named envelope - this can be put in the post box at the top of the ramp.

Bentley School's Christian Ethos

"Know that I am with you always," Matthew 28:20 We encourage the spiritual, social, moral and cultural development of the school family by embedding Christian values into everyday life. Our vision is for all children to be confident individuals, successful learners and responsible citizens who are well equipped for future life, knowing that God is with them always.
