Children’s Mental Health Week next week

Children's Mental Health Week is a mental health awareness week that empowers, equips and gives a voice to all children and young people in the UK. During this week we will be learning about how to stay safe online for safer internet day (see below). The Mental Health team will be joining us in school to deliver workshops which promote giving children a voice. This culminates in a non-uniform day on Friday, children can wear something to 'express themselves'.  Please bear in mind the weather and that it needs to be something suitable for the school day.

Safer Internet Day - Tuesday 6th Febrarury

Next week we will be exploring how to stay safe online. KS1 pupils will be engaged in a special assembly planned by our Head pupils. KS2 pupils will be joining a live interactive webinar to explore expectations, responsibilities and strategies when having fun online. The webinars are delivered via Youtube, which we know is designed for children 13 years+, however the session will be joined as a whole class and supervised by class teachers. Parents may wish to join this live assembly from 9.30am too by following this link https://youtu.be/8dT1ygw8A9Y.  Curriculum information and other resources can be found here.  Be Internet Legends resources | Parent Zone | At the heart of digital family life along with Interland games Play Interland - Be Internet Legends (beinternetawesome.withgoogle.com)

Our community Police Officer, PC Kate, will also be chatting to the older children about online safety. We encourage parents to follow up these conversations at home to reinforce the important messages about responsibility and staying safe.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
