Copdock Weekly News 03.03.17

Parents Evening: Please note the dates for our next parents evenings for years 1-4 are Tuesday 14th March 5-7pm and Wednesday 15th March 3:30-5pm. Dates and times for Foxes vary across the week. This does not apply to parents of Foundation pupils who have recently had their reviews. We will be trialling a new automated booking system through the website for this event. A letter was sent home with pupils Friday detailing how the system works and what you need to do (it is also available on the website). We will notify you when the slots are live and therefore available to book. Please ensure you know your log-in details, the rest should be straightforward. Please feedback how you felt the system worked so that we can monitor its usefulness for future events.

Basketball: Both Bentley and Copdock attended a basketball tournament for small schools on Tuesday. In total ten small schools competed and fun was had by all. Copdock came joint 7th whilst Bentley came 6th. There was a fantastic team spirit from both schools and the allocated captains managed their teams well. A fair player award was given to A.J from Copdock and William at Bentley. All the children were a credit to both schools.

World Book Day: On Wednesday many pupils and staff came into school dressed as their favourite book characters. Look at the fabulous costumes! Lisa Thompson, author of ‘The Goldfish Boy’ came into Foxes class and assembly to share her experience with the pupils – reading some of her book and fielding probing questions from her enthusiastic fans who are eagerly anticipating her next adventure. As part of our World Book Day celebrations, Woodpeckers visited Capel St Mary Library.

Return Slips and Monies: Thank you to all those who have continued to use the post box and class boxes to send slips and monies into school. To support the children in their development towards independence, please ensure they are aware of anything they need to hand in each day – the register boxes are available as soon as they enter their classrooms. The outside post box is checked every morning. If you have a large amount of money to pay in, please continue to use the boxes provided and feel free to email in for confirmation of receipt. Please ensure monies are in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on it and what the money is for. Children also need to remember to bring their book bags, lunches, water bottles and PE kits themselves – this will help them to develop responsibility.

Chocolate Bingo: Don’t forget to get your tickets for the PTA’s Easter event on Saturday 25th March 1-3pm at the school. Entry is £3 per adult and £2 per child – admission fee includes cake and a drink. Any monies raised will go towards supporting the pupils’ education. The event is billed as a fun family afternoon of chocolate bingo – what more could you need!?! You can find the flyer and booking form here:

Foxes SATS Maths Booster: As per the email sent Wednesday, please be advised the booster classes on 8th & 15th March have both been postponed. These will hopefully be replaced by sessions on 19th & 26th April.

Easter Bonnet Parade: Here’s a heads up for all you avid crafters – there will be an Easter bonnet parade on the last day of term. Prizes will be awarded for the best bonnets selected by our judges. Children are encouraged to make their own, so now is a good time to start thinking about the designs!
