Important Information to Share

Changes to Office
Please note that after Easter the office will be closed from 1pm on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. If you need to speak to Julie  or Tina face to face, they will be available from 8.45-3.30pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 8.45 to 1pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Someone will be available to take any urgent messages on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon on the Copdock number 01473 730337.

Spirituality Den
Next week we will be opening our spirituality den for children to have time and space to think about things that are important to them and some of the questions they have or wonder about the world. They will have calming music to listen to, images to look at and things to hold to help them to stop, think and enjoy the quiet reflection time. Questions we will be exploring include ...What does it mean to be a good person? Who is important to me and why?, Who am I and what makes me unique? Some people believe in God, some people don't and some are not sure. What do you think?, What things in the world are so beautiful they make me go 'wow?
If any parents are interested in visiting the 'den' to explore spirituality with their child at the end of the day, please do let us know.

'Fun-time Friday' for families
We are looking at the possibility of offering a 'Fun-time Friday' session for families within our community (3 years+) to compliment Pam Rayment's toddler sessions running at the village hall. This will provide an opportunity for children and adults to become familiar with our school before they are applying for a school place in the Reception year. At this stage we are looking into sourcing toys and resources to support these sessions and would welcome any donations that might have been outgrown and are clean and well cared for. If anyone is interested in supporting us spread the news once plans have been finalised, please let us know .

Cross Country
some children took part in a Cross Country event on Wednesday.  All the children did really well and we had a lovely email from a parent praising all the children for taking part. We'll be putting photos on the Group Conversations on the website, so keep an eye out later.
"They all did spectacularly well - all finishing, which in itself was an achievement. A lengthy run and very muddy too, but none of them gave up.
A real joy to experience Bentley team spirit - all cheering one another to pass the finish line. We all should be very proud of them."

Year 2 , 3, 4 teeth brushing
Mrs Drain spent some time in class yesterday afternoon talking about cleaning teeth effectively.  Children have brought home a teeth cleaning sheet to fill in over the next month.  All children who complete their sheet will win a prize and 4 will be picked out of a hat to win a 'special prize'.  Please can parents encourage children to complete their sheets each day after cleaning their teeth.

Change to menu on Thursday (last day of term)
Instead of sausage roast on Thursday, the menu will be sausages or quorn sausages with chips and beans / peas.

Easter Service and bonnet parade
On the last day of term is our Easter Service and bonnet parade.  As in previous years, parents are warmly invited to join us for the service and we are looking forward to lots of creative bonnets on display.  The service starts at 9am, all children are to be dropped off at church for 8.45am as usual. We will be organising a drop off as previous occasions if you are not able to attend, please drop off and carry on so there is no need to turn around and no need to park unless staying at the service. It will last until approx until 10am when we will walk back to school.  If bringing younger siblings, please ensure they sit with you at all times to ensure safety in the church and so that everyone can hear and enjoy the service. (if your child will be attending morning club, please ensure they are dropped off by 8.15am so there is time for them to walk to church with staff.

Dinners and Morning club payments
Please could you pay any outstanding balances for dinners and morning club by the end of term please.

New Menu for next term
Please find attached the new menus for after the Easter break - there are some new lunches to be enjoyed so please share these new choices with your child.  Please note that we do not offer the Lunchbox option.

After School clubs
We are looking at options for After School clubs next term to start after Easter. Please let us know by Wednesday 27th March if your child is interested in either club.

Mondays after school,  3.15 - 4.15pm: Activity Club
Open to Years 2 to 6, £2 per session. We would need a minimum of 7 children to make this viable at this cost. This will need to be paid up front for the half term.
The club will be informal and include the opportunity to play with friends, use ipads for coding activities, build with Lego, be creative with paint and craft materials.

Tuesdays after school 3.15 - 4.15pm: Multi-sports club with ITFC
Offered to younger children this term, Year R to Year 3.
£2 per session which will need to be paid up front for the half term.
(If we do not have enough uptake from the younger years we will offer back to KS2 children.)

Lost Property
There is a large amount of lost property again this term; anything named is reunited with your child but most lost property is un-named, particulary PE tops. We will put the box out at the end of school next week -  it is mainly PE hoodies and sweatshirts.  Please take anything that belongs to your child, any items left at the end of term will be donated to charity.  Logo'd fleeces, sweatshirts and cardigans will be passed to PTA for the second hand uniform stall.
Please ensure that all clothing is named for next term.  As the weather improves it is more likely that sweatshirts/ cardigans and hoodies are removed and discarded.  We can get them back to your child if they are named.

Medication going home next week
As next Thursday is the end of term, medication will be sent home for you to check dates and quantity and return to the office next term if needed.

FSM discretionary vouchers
If your child is in receipt of free school meals, please check your emails for the vouchers that have come out for the Easter break.  Please ensure that you redeem these and previously issued vouchers by the closing date as they cannot be re-sent.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
