Bentley Weekly Update 18/05/18

Year 6 – Mrs Robinson is exceedingly proud of the Year 6 pupils and how they conducted themselves this week during their SATs. We’ve had a little celebration and are looking forward to all the fun events coming up over the rest of the school year now.

Hedgehogs – Please could you practice reading the time on an analogue clock at home with your children this week. We are looking at time telling again and analogue clocks can be a little tricky. Thank you.

Year 1 - Year 1 have been learning about days of the week. It would be really helpful if you could practice these at home with your child this week. Thank you.

Non-Uniform Day – Just a quick reminder that there will be an optional non-uniform day next Friday, 25th May, in return for donations to the PTA bottle tombola. On the same day, there will be a PTA cake sale after school.

Royal Wedding Lunch – The street party lunch yesterday was great fun! The children had a lovely time, with staff members acting as ‘butlers’ bringing them their food. If you are reading this on the website, you can see some pictures of the party at the top of this page. Today, year 6 have decorated a cake to celebrate the royal wedding. Look out for pictures in the half termly newsletter due to come out next week.

Pentecost Experience – All children will need to be collected from the church next Tuesday, 22nd May, at the end of the school day please. We will all be spending the afternoon at St Mary’s Church, Bentley, for a hands-on, interactive look at Pentecost. We will be walking down to the church after lunch and as ever, we would love to hear from any parents who could help with the walk down and at the event.

Go Run For Fun – 8 children from Reception and Year 1 have been chosen to take part in this fun event next Thursday. If your child is one of these, please make sure they have a packed lunch, drinks bottle, sun-cream and sun hat. There has been a slight time change and we will now be leaving just after 9am so children will have time to change before we go. However, if they would still prefer to come to school already in their PE kits, that would be fine.

Missing Uniform – We have had a few cases of jumpers going missing in school, even though they have children’s names in. It is so easy for children to pick up the wrong jumper, particularly on a PE day, so it would be really helpful if all parents could have a quick check at home (especially in the washing basket) for any items they have made their way to the wrong house. Thank you in anticipation for your support with this.

Dinner Money – A quick reminder please that dinner money should be paid the week that the meals are taken. Most families are very good at paying either at the beginning or the end of the week and we appreciate that very much. The school has to pay for these meals and we can’t afford for debts to build up. Thank you in anticipation for your support with this.
