Bentley Weekly Update 16.2.2024

 

Important Information to Share

After School Clubsafter half term, we will continue to run our Tuesday ITFC sports club for KS2 children.  Please make payment via cash/cheque or the website and complete the sports ASC form to join.  It will be 5 weeks charged at £10 for the 5 sessions. 
 
Gymnastics club will continue for another 5 weeks on Mondays for those children who have already signed up
 
Copdock will be hosting a Coding Club for Year 3 & 4 pupils across the Federation on Tuesdays until 4:15pm for 4 sessions from 5th March.  Please note places are limited to 10 on a first come, first served basis - if your child would like to join please complete the form on the website to confirm their space as soon as possible. Children will be taken from Bentley to Copdock via school mini bus, but parents will need to collect children at 4.15pm from Copdock.
 
Food festival - Week beginning 26th February is food festival week. The theme is "Legumes - great for us, great for the the environment, and great for our budgets".  During the course of the week, children will be preparing vegetable based dishes and learnng about healthy eating as well as gaining valuable cooking skills.  We would love to showcase our dishes to parents.You are invited in on the following days and each session will be 3-3.15pm.

Thursday - Hedgehogs

Shared learning on Friday 1st March

This will be from 2.45pm, however if you need to visit more than one child please feel free to come in from 2.30pm to allow enough time to chat through learning with your child/ren. Due to space we would ask that parents who need to bring younger children with them, join us after school at 3.15pm. 

Parking outside school
We are now using the school minibus to transport children to After School Club on a daily basis. After half term the bus is ikely to be parked in the bay opposite school so please can we ask that this area is left clear at drop off and pick up. Thank you!
 
 
Bee Books - early in March we have a lady coming into school to deliver an assembly and talk about bees & bee keeping.  She has published a book.  Parents are able to purchase a copy of the book, which she is happy to sign, for £5 but these must be pre-ordered.  If you would like a copy of the book please let the office know by Wednesday 28th February.  You will need to send £5 in a named envelope marked 'Bee Book' before Friday 1st March.
 
Dinners and morning club
Please ensure all dinners and morning club payments are paid up to date today - if you are unsure what is owed, please contact the office. Thank you!

World Book Day - a reminder of the world book day paper plate challenge - children brought home a paper plate this week.  Deadline is 1st March. We are excited to see what wonderful creations the children design over half term!

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
