Bentley Weekly Update 16.09.16

It has been another productive week here at Bentley and the children have been working hard on their learning about different countries around the world in preparation for the Passport to the World event. Some of the children made some beautiful posters with information about friends and family who live in other countries; we hope you enjoyed seeing them all on display.

Please ensure you read the correspondence that comes home from school – it contains important information including dates and details of activities. All weekly updates can be found on the school website.

Badgers – Year 6 have spellings to learn however, Mrs Parnell has not issued any other homework this week with all the preparations for Passport to the World, the normal homework schedule will commence next week.

Adders – Years 3 and 4 will be tested on their spellings on Monday and Year 5 on Tuesday. No other homework has been given this week; the schedule will start next week.

Hedgehogs – Hedgehogs have their 2 exercise books to cover over the weekend and their spellings to learn. Keywords have also been sent home to practice.

Wolves – Year 1 have spellings to learn for Monday and keywords to start practicing.

Whole school – a great number of children achieved their sticker for 5 reads this week, well done! Keep it up – those who haven’t achieved stickers yet, try your very hardest this week.

Reception – A meeting for parents with children in Reception will take place on Friday 23rd September with Mrs Rudge. It will be a useful guide to what to expect from the year and to ask any questions you may have.

PE – A lot of items were left on the school field after PE on Thursday. There was even a carrier bag with a full school uniform in that had no name labels in whatsoever. Please ensure that all your child’s belongings are clearly named (even pants get confused on swimming days!) and that your child has collected everything at the end of the school day. Thank you.

MacMillan Coffee Afternoon – As mentioned previously, this year’s coffee afternoon to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support will take place from 2:30pm on Friday 23rd September in the school hall. Any donations of cakes will be gratefully received on the day and we hope that as many parents, grandparents, extended family and friends will join us on the day. The children will also be putting on a performance so do please come along to enjoy a cuppa, a slice of cake and some entertainment.

Thank you to everyone who returned their data collection sheets and permissions by today (Friday 16th Sept). Your name has gone into a draw to win a box of chocolates. If you haven't returned yours yet please bring it in on Monday as we have a legal obligation to collect them in. Thank you.
