Bentley Weekly update 15.09.17

Welcome to the first proper weekly update of the school year. As ever, we have hit the ground running and have lots of things coming up.

NSPCC Workshops – The children will be taking part in assemblies and workshops over the course of next week. As highlighted in the welcome back letter, there is a free online safety workshop for parents on Thursday evening, 21st September, from 6pm. A crèche will be provided for those who need it. We do need to have an idea of numbers, so if you are planning to come along, please email the school office and let us know.

African Adventure Parent Meeting – As relayed in the letter that came home about African Adventure, the meeting for parents to come along to and find out more information about the trip is set for next Wednesday, 20th September, at 2:45pm in Bentley school hall. This will be your chance to ask any questions you may have about the trip.

Harvest Festival – Our harvest festival special assembly is due to take place next Friday morning, 22nd September, at 9am and everybody is welcome. Do come and join us if you can; it will take place at the school this year rather than the church but parents are still very welcome to come and take part. We are collecting donations of food for FIND, a charity in Ipswich which helps homeless families. Tins, dry food and non-perishable items with a good date on them would be very gratefully received and will be passed on to the charity after the assembly. Thank you in anticipation.

Data and Permission Sheets - The data and permission sheets that went home last week are legally required documents that schools have an obligation to collate annually. Thank you to the vast majority of families who have returned theirs already, however, we still have quite a few outstanding. Please return all completed forms and signed data collection sheets by Monday, 18th September. Thank you.

Homework - Adders and Hedgehogs, please read and return the slip at the bottom of the homework letter that was sent home with your child. It contains details of homework that will be issued over the year. Wolves - Years 1 and 2 have spellings and maths book pages as well as their usual keywords. All of Wolves, including Reception, have a one page profile in their book bag to be completed with parents at home. Thank you to all those families who sent in baby and family photos.

PTA - The PTA have already started planning some fun events for the new school year. We will be holding our first meeting of this term on Friday 22nd September at 2.30pm in the school hall. We welcome anyone to come along! It would be lovely to see some new faces. We are a very friendly bunch! We are always looking for helpers and members, if you feel you would like to join then please do come along and meet us all. Just a reminder (and note for new parents) that we have a PTA Facebook page which we update regularly with event details, 'Bentley PTA and friends (events info)'. We look forward to bringing you details of events shortly.
