Bentley Weekly Update 13/11/20

Words of the Week– This week’s words are:

Reception – ‘next’ and ‘both’

Yr 1/2 – ‘object’ and ‘Jewish’

Hedgehogs – ‘tropics’ and ‘circuit’

Adders – ‘import’ and ‘global’

School Places Sept 2021 - Suffolk County Council have asked us to remind parents of children who were born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017, that you need to apply for a school place for your child by the deadline, 15th January. All the information you need to make an application can be found at www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions

Virtual Open Evening– If you have or know of anyone with a child due to start school next September, please get in touch with the school office to get booked on to the virtual tour on Thursday 19th November. The tour will start at 6pm and we will send people who would like to join us, a link to be able to take part.

Gifts for Homeless Children - As in previous years, we will be collecting gifts for the homeless families being looked after at West Villa in Ipswich. If you can afford to buy an extra gift this year, we will be putting a collection together to go to the charity. Gifts need to be unwrapped please. Any donations of food, especially Christmas food would also mean a great deal to them if you are able.

Children in Need - Thank you all so much for supporting this event. Between the pupils and the staff £74 was raised for the charity! We love the costumes; it has been great fun trying to guess who or what children are dressed up as.

Anti-bullying Week - To mark this important week in the school calendar, we are asking the children to wear odd socks next week.

Flu Immunisations– Quick reminder that the school immunisation team will be coming in on Wednesday 18th November to carry out the nasal flu immunisation for all children whose parents have applied for them to receive it. No child will be given the vaccine that hasn’t had parental agreement.

Wolves Victorians Topic – Wolves class will be looking at the Victorians this half term. We will launch our topic on Wednesday next week, the 18th November, and we would love to explore any genuine Victorian artefacts you have at home that we could borrow, to look at only, not touch! On 15th December we will be dressing up as Victorians. Home made costumes are quite straight forward to make:

Boys - shirts and trousers/shorts with a cap, maybe a waistcoat too.

Girls - long dress, ribbons in hair, apron.

Parent Governor Vacancy - If you are interested in becoming a new parent governor please contact the school office by Friday 20th November so we can get the appropriate paperwork to you. We can then arrange for the Chair to get in touch and give you more information.
