Fundraising

We have a couple of events coming up on the next 2 Fridays: these are voluntary events as we know we have supported a lot of charities already this term:

Red Nose Day Friday 18th March
School Council would like to take part in raising money for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day 2022 by inviting children to dress up in red or whacky clothes for a contribution of £1 - there will be a prize for the best costume per class.  We are aware that we have already supported other charities this term and therefore would like to stress that this is a voluntary event but would like to honour this day as it is a national charity day.  In addition, as the theme for Comic Relief is 'Funny Is Power', we would welcome contributions to our 'Joke Hat' by sending in jokes, suitable for children, that can be read out in each class during the day.  These can be emailed to the office or directly to Mrs Robinson.

Epilepsy Action fundraiser, Go Purple Friday 25th March

In the weekly update before half term we mentioned that there would be an Epilepsy Action fundraiser, Go Purple. on Friday 25th March children will have the opportunity to wear something purple on the Friday and a cake sale will take place after school. Donations across both schools will be given to AJ at Bentley, who is raising funds for Epilepsy Action. Please see the poster attached for more details.

Ukraine Crisis

As previously mentioned, we will be holding a prayer space session on Monday. If you wish to make a donation to this appeal please see the attached link https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/DECUkraineHumanitarianAppeal and leaflet sent out earlier in the week for other ways of helping during the current time.

Suffolk County Council workshops
Please see details below of some workshops and resources from Suffolk County Council that may be of interest to you

Working together to protect children
There are some awareness to draw your attention to this week, highlighting the important resources available at #LookCloser which raise awareness of child exploitation and abuse, with a particular focus on public spaces. These include specific resources for people working with children, businesses and members of the public. The resources are hosted via the #LookCloser webpage here.

Our Gangs & County Lines Parents’ Session consists of speakers utilising their lived experience within the criminal justice system to unpack and explore the realities and consequences of county lines drug smuggling, gang involvement, criminal exploitation and serious youth violence. Perspectives from previous perpetrators and runners/transporters, combined with relevant case studies, aid audiences in gaining an authentic and credible understanding of this complex and cross cutting issue. The session will allow parents to identify signs and triggers that a young person might be involved in a county line and know how to appropriate respond. Ipswich and East Suffolk  Parent / Carer Session 6.30pm – 8pm 30th March Webinar Registration - ZoomFor full details click the link: St Giles Trust SOS + Programme Gangs and County Lines Parent and Carer Webinars
The Emotional Wellbeing Hub Service which provides access to mental health services for children and young people aged 0-25, in East and West Suffolk, are working with Barnardo’s to provide a new phoneline service to help guide families and young people to emotional wellbeing and mental health support.
