Bentley weekly update 10/06/16

Bentley Weekly News 10th June 2016

Another busy week here at Bentley; it started with our rather magnificent swimming team doing very well in the regional swimming gala, with one of our year 6 boys, Tommy, even getting a medal. Well done to you all.

The new children starting September joined us for the morning today. The ‘Bunnies’ all settled in really well, with our current Reception children welcoming them in and making them feel at home. Thank you Reception children for being such great ambassadors for the school.

This afternoon our year 5 / 6 cricket team are competing in the pyramid cricket tournament at East Bergholt Cricket Club, we will let you know how they get on.

Every child should have received an envelope with raffle tickets for the PTA summer fayre to sell. Hopefully your sales techniques are serving you well and you have flogged most of them already! The prize list just keeps on getting bigger and bigger, it should be a bonanza year. Please return any money, stubs and unsold tickets to Amy Schofield (Max’s Mum) or Alison Partridge (Charlie’s Mum) by Friday 24th June at the very latest. Thank you in anticipation.

We have had a great deal of fun with our special lunch today to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. The hall was decorated in a very British manner and we all enjoyed ourselves. The Bentley Parish Council have generously bought a commemorative coin for every child in the school to remember this special anniversary, the children will be bringing them home today. Thank you to all those parents who joined us for the celebrations and shared learning this afternoon. The children worked hard making all the scones, cheese straws and other goodies that we all enjoyed.

This week Mrs Robinson has been speaking to the children about safety and we have been looking at a really useful website that gives lots of food for thought and insight into keeping children safe. In particular, we have been looking at the “Turn Off Technology, Tune Into Children” campaign. If you are interested in learning more or would like to see what your child has been learning, please do have a look at www.capt.org.uk, they have a wealth of information and resources for you to be able to discuss safety with your child.

A letter will be coming home today asking your views on the new way in which we are sharing information with parents about children's progress and assessment. If you could take just a few minutes to complete a very short survey on this, it would really help us to shape the future of assessment in the school. The survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/9XG7PN9
