Bentley Weekly Update 09/03/18

Active Schools – Would your child be interested in coming along to a free, fun Active School session on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30am? The Government Childhood Obesity Plan has set out the ambition for all children to achieve one hour of physical activity every day, with schools being responsible for delivering a suggested 30 of these active minutes. The other 30 min is for parents. We would like to run these sessions as part of this initiative. At this stage we would just like to gauge interest – if you would be interested in your child taking part, please email the school. Thank you.

OneLife Suffolk – As you will have seen from the letter attached to the email with the link to this newsletter, we are taking part in a 6 week healthy living initiative with OneLife Suffolk. To launch the programme, parents are invited to a coffee morning on 16th March at 8:45am to find out more. If you can come along to the chat, please let us know so we can have an idea of numbers of parents attending.

Sports Relief – We are celebrating this great cause this year on Wednesday 21st March in the morning before cross country. Charlie and Hayden are selling wrist bands at the moment. The children can bring in a £1 and dress in sports wear if they would like. School uniform can be worn if children do not wish to dress in sports clothes.

Governor Questionnaire – You may remember in previous years a very short questionnaire from the governors being sent your way to gather parent views on the school ethos. The letter with instruction on accessing this online questionnaire was attached to the email with the link to this newsletter. It can also be found on the school website. The link to the Bentley survey is: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TRZXDTH

Enterprise Scheme - The imagination of our children and families has been inspirational over the past few weeks! The buzz around this scheme and the hard work the pupils have put into their business has been wonderful. Thank you to all the families who supported the fair after school today, it was lovely to see families supporting each other’s business ideas. Just a reminder that the deadline has now been extended to 29th March, please make sure any money and business plans are returned by then. We can’t wait to find out the total the children have achieved! Thank you.

PTA Easter disco and egg hunt - We are holding our first Easter party on Friday 23rd March, straight from school in the hall, 3.15-5.15pm. There will be a disco, egg hunt, pizza and squash all included! Each child will also receive an Easter egg.

Tickets are £3.50 and available now. There will be glitter tattoos and colourful hair chalk available on the night for just 50p if your child would like these.

We are also holding a luxury Easter raffle with the winners being announced at the end of our Easter party. A big thank you to Sue (Trinity's mum), who has very kindly made and donated these amazing prizes. Raffle tickets available now for £1.

Bowling – Children from Hedgehogs class had a whale of a time bowling today as a reward for their hard work in class. They made quite an interesting sight bowling in their World Book Day costumes! Bentley put on a sterling performance – congratulations to Isla P with the highest score for Bentley, 114!!!!

Mothers’ Day Messages – Don’t forget to pick up your copy of the Ipswich Star today with lovely messages from your children for Mothers’ Day.

Roller Disco - Poppy Hugo and Molly invite you to their £1 enterprise...a rollerskating disco! Monday 12th March 4-5.30pm, at Capel St Mary Village Hall. Tickets just £1.50 and available now, includes entry and squash. There will be a little sweet stall on the night with prices starting from 20p.
