Ascension Day at Bentley

Mr Whale came in to help us learn about Ascension Day and how it is celebrated by Christians.  We learnt about how Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to his disciples for 40 days before returning to heaven to be with God. We ordered the events from Palm Sunday to Pentecost to help us understand the story.

We made Ascension craft where Jesus was on a piece of string and we pulled him up into the blue paper cup which was heaven.  We learnt how bible verses are written down in books, chapters and verses.  We made paper crosses by folding A4 paper in a special order and cutting the things off we don’t need to get into heaven.

The questions the children asked Mr Whale at the end were very reflective and well thought out, mostly about what heaven was like.

Bentley School's Christian Ethos

"Know that I am with you always," Matthew 28:20 We encourage the spiritual, social, moral and cultural development of the school family by embedding Christian values into everyday life. Our vision is for all children to be confident individuals, successful learners and responsible citizens who are well equipped for future life, knowing that God is with them always.
