Woodpeckers - 23.09.22

Date: 23rd Sep 2022 @ 10:44am

Good afternoon Woodpeckers!

Your homework this week is something we have been working on in our writing - similes. I would like you to have a go at completing the similes from the list I have given you. You do not need to complete all of them, just choose at least ten from the list.

As an extra challenge, have a go at writing your own similes to describe things you have seen or heard, for example if you go out on a walk this weekend could you describe in similes what you see, hear, how you feel?

On Monday and Tuesday next week Woodpeckers will be taught by Mrs Wright, whilst Miss Cross is teaching Kittens class. Mrs Wright has worked at Copdock previously, so should be a familiar face to you all.

Today, the class have begun to do their times table tests, which we will do weekly on Friday mornings. I will be using the next few weeks to assess which times tables each child needs to individually work on. Remember that, as well as knowing the facts, they need to be able to answer each question as quickly as they can. Year 4s will be sitting the Multiplication Check at the end of this year, which tests knowledge and fluency, so it is important that the children have quick recall of each times table fact. I hope to soon set the class up on Times Table Rockstars so that they can practise their times tables at home as much as possible.

Have a lovely weekend and see you on Wednesday.
