Wolves 6.6.22

Date: 6th Jun 2022 @ 9:24am

Dear parents,

I hope you had lovely Jubilee weekend and your child/children have had a lovely rest this half term, ready for lots of fun and learning in this final half term of the academic year.

Learning this week

This week, in Wolves, we will be finishing off learning about Why the Torah is so special to Jewish people. We will be continuing our scientific learning about plants and animals, looking at their habitats and thinking about food chains. We will also be beginning our new topic of the Island of Mersea, looking at past holidays to beaches. In maths we will spend some time revising number bonds, and  the relationship between addition and subtraction.

Year 1 phonics screening will take place this week. It will be done informally with your child and will only take a few minutes to complete.

Times Tables Rock Stars multiplication table focus this week, is the 5 times table. This will include all the tables facts and accompanying division facts. We have a short  battle up to Thursday, and then weekly TTRS battles scheduled between the boys and girls. Well done boys, who just won the lastest battle. Each week, I will give out certificates to the 3 girls and boys with top scores..

Our learning behaviour of the week is 'improve ' and our value is 'respect'.

Notices

Again, if year 1 children would like to pracise some 'alien' words,  you can support at home with this learning, I have attached another list including a selection of words practising many different phonemes/graphemes and some 'alien' words. Also, here is a link to a website we have been using in lessons recently to sort real and alien words Buried Treasure (phonicsplay.co.uk).

Reminders:

Please name jumpers/cardigans if possible please - in this warmer weather a lot get removed during the day, and a name in each piece of clothing would make it easier to reunite each with its owner!

Key words will be tested on Wednesday

Friday is shared learning, and you are very welcome to attend from 2:45 to look at your child's/children's work alongside them.
